A golden beer, a head is quite big blond.Aroma has coffee, some green herbs, hint of vanilla. Taste has coffee, vanilla, some fruitness. Medium bodied. Quite weird, the balance could be better.

Bottle from Geers. Hazy orange, thinning, off-white head. Aroma of vanilla, toasted almond, mead, toasted white bread, coffee nib, pear, orange peel, fruit cake (apricot), icing sugar, vague chlorine. Taste has very sweet banana, candied plum & pear in a white-chocolatey, white-bready, white-sugary and almondy malt body, adding lots of extra sweetness but also a chemical effect. Very vague floral hops in the finish, lingering toasted almond, touch of coffee, candied fruit and warming liqueur-like, almost mead-like alcohol. Medium to full body, syrupy texture, average carbonation. Very sweet, weird, but also a bit messy overall.

Bouteille 33cl, BB 11/2032, lot# L049/22.

One of the many (three dozen or so) Billie-themed beers, probably all one-offs, presented at this years’ BCBF. Thanks Frederik and his band for sharing this one on the train from Antwerp to Ghent! Egg-white, open, moussy head, hazy peach blonde robe with pale orangey tinge - 'white' stout indeed... Sweet and ‘desserty’ aroma of candy apple, vanilla indeed, white chocolate, Betterfood, ripe pineapple, pear, honey, almond to even marzipan, candied orange, touch coffee powder indeed – but remaining subtle. Sweet onset, candyfloss almost, candied orange, apricot jam and ripe pear, medium carb; almond- and white-chocolate-like flavours heavily resting on a biscuity and cereally, rounded malt core, fruity ‘candied’ sweetness continuing into a warming finish with low hop bitterness and liqueurish alcohol, as well as a spicy coffee accent. In itself a decent and well-constructed dessert beer, sure, but stop calling blonde beers ‘stouts’ please – that joke is not funny anymore…
