Zart schmeichelndes Nelkenaroma, leicht im Trunk und spritzig im Geschmack. Hefetrüb und herrlich erfrischend im Abgang.

500ml fliptop from Country Club Liquors. Nose is wheat with light banana esters and hints of caramel and yeast. Clear yellow gold with a big pale yellow head. Flavor is light banana, pasty wheat, and a hint of white pepperiness.

Half liter bottle, $3.50 @ Binny’s. I pulled this to celebrate closing on a re-fi. Not a big celebration beer, but it’s been in my cellar since July, and the date notch is for Feb. 10. Yep, it gushes out of the bottle. In my .5 l weizen glass, there’s a LOT of foam, with a few wheat particles in the foam. Still, a clean wheat beer smell, just a touch of clove nose so far. Of course I laid it on its side in the fridge, so the yeast is in there, making for a slightly murky yellow color. But the taste is okay, after all. There some aging in the malt, true, but the usual hefeweizen esters have dwindled away, leaving this to taste like a maltier version of an American wheat. Some strong alcoholic notes, and more dark bits floating in my glass, Hey, it’s an unfiltered weizen, I’ll take it.

500ml bottle from Bert’s Better Beers. Orange color. Large, frail, yet thick, white head. Grainy aroma with the pleasant banana clove you get from a Hefe. . Flavor provides more yeasty, very grainy with the clove. Clean, but you can definitely tell this is bottle conditioned... its thin, but not watery. A light hefe, but with the standard palate. Hard to get used to this beer... not bad, but not REAL enjoyable. Overall still a good Hefe, I love this style, so I would buy again depending on the selection or place I’m buying beer at.

Pours hazy gold into a weizen glass. Bright white micro head with excellent retention recedes leaving spotted sheets to coat surface. Banana and clove aromas. Smooth with upfront yeast and clove turning dry in the lasting finish.

50cl swingtop, poured into a weizen glass - lively, hazy gold pour, with a frothy, lasting head - fairly tart and lemony up front - moderately yeasty, with a mild sweetness, subtle banana and clove - some earthy wheat and tanginess on the tail end - there are no discernible flaws here, I would even say it’s fairly tasty, it just seems to be lacking anything that really makes it pop - I like, but I don’t love.

Swingtop from Total Wine in Roseville, CA. Pours light gold with a 4-finger foamy white head. Aroma is difficult through all that foam, but banana is definite. Medium body with creamy/frothy carbonation. Flavor is wheaty and banana. Not a great deal of spice, but some lemon herb and possibly a touch of glove. A decent and very drinkable hefeweizen.

Re-rate 5/19/11: Bottle sample at a blind Hefeweizens tasting. Cloudy orange with a big bubbly white head. Aroma of a bit of spices and sour fruits. Sourish fruity flavor with some citrus and wheat. Medium-bodied. My 6th place of the tasting. 5/3/7/3/13=3.1

Bottle. Surprisingly almost clear golden with a medium white head that disappears quickly. Aroma of citrus, clove and some more esters. Sweet and slightly acidic flavor with some bready notes and fruits. Light-medium body. Quite refreshing.

0.5L bottle, small thick and quickly dissapearing head, hazy lemon yellow colour, white fruit aroma with hint of honey, very strong lemony sourness with some touches of apricot, medium bodied and a very long sour lemon aftertaste. Extremely refreshing.

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. The beer tastes strong and very fruity, but from the beginning much too sourish. So I didn’t enjoy it.
