MAL trip: day 1/12 - Chicken & Beer, Petaling Jaya near KL. A 300ml. glass, draught, served one or two degrees too chilled IMHO. Aroma: negligible, a bit of cheap milk chocolate. Appearance: opaque cola, one finger tan head. Palate: light-bodied and creamy, soft carbonation; long and lingering roasty finish. Taste: lightly sweet with pronounced roasted notes, powerful 90% chocolate flavour, with chocolate brownies. The taste comes as a surprise after the disappointing aroma, and it’s not exactly complex, but it’s great drinking.

Taster at Taproom. Very dark brown-black body, greyish head. Sweetish grainy, malty aroma, coconut maybe. Sweetish taste, coconut and maybe dark chocolate really, soft, mildly tart. Nice!

From tap. Pours hazy dark brown, small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty, breadish. Hard roasted, light acidic roasted note. Bitter and dark malty. Lasting breadish finish.

Nice enough stout, the bodied is thin but that’s to be expected from the ABV. A nice fudge character which I always like with some roast and chocolate.

Draft at the Tap Room KL, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a short-lived, frothy off-white head. The aroma is roasty malt. The flavour is moderate to light liqourice bitter and sweet, with a smooth, slightly light, roasty, earthy, light floral, liqourice bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.
