In 2020, when we tasted the first version of this beer, we felt a sense of pride like never before. This feeling has persisted every year since then. Our base beer is a midnight black, full-bodied Russian imperial stout, which we then matured on freshly roasted Ethiopian variant of a Budapest specialty coffee roaster and Ghanaian cocoa beans. All this was poured into freshly emptied bourbon barrels and aged for nearly a year to reach its most beautiful form. Enjoy this splendid beer!

Bottle. Drank at room temp. A bit rough, moderately boozy. Could use a bit of a chill. High sweetness, med-high bitterness. Thick syrupy mouthfeel. Lots of chocolate and coffee. A bit too syrupy, also in flavour, not only texture. Moderate dried fruits. Overall quite strong, good, even if not the most nuanced.

Bottle split at Hopaholic, Budapest, 10/06/23. Black topped with a tan head. Nose is chocolate, booze, spice, charr, dark malts, coffee. Taste comprises chocolate, toffee, coffee bean, molasses, toasted brown sugars. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced kiss of alcohol. Solid sipper and easy work for 13.6%.

Very dark brown with thin head. It absolutely delivers on the chocolate and coffee. The Bourbon barrel perhaps takes it too far down the sweet route. Good and luscious nonetheless.

Közepes, tartós, barna hab, fekete szín. Kávés, kakaós, csokis, aszalt gyümölcsös illat, whiskey-s, hordós, vaníliás vonásokkal. Csokis, kávés, kakaós, aszalt gyümölcsös ízek, whiskey-s, hordós, vaníliás aromákkal. Édes, testes, közepesen szénsavas, közepesen keserű. Isteni finom.

A nicely made example of the style. Smooth, nice thickness, tad boozy and plenty of bourbon. The coffee is clearly there, earthy, with some sweet bourbon and roasty base to complete the package. Nothing unique, but tasty and well balanced.
