Bottle, found in a Mitra shop. Blonde. Lemon and tequila in the somewhat artificial aroma. Sweet, sugary, slightly perfumed flavor with lemon and tequila. Sticky mouthfeel.

Golden color with a quickly diminishing white head. Aroma has notes of lemony hints with very light maltiness. Flavor is sweet with light tequila notes, very light. Watery final with sweet and lemony notes, similar as a shandy.

Bottled from Mitra Bunnik, BB 01.09.14, large --> small sample, drank from the bottle. Aroma of grainy malt, sweet, hint of sugar. Bit sweet in taste, bit nasty bitterness, almost tart. Slight tequila. Quite horrible palate. Aroma is not that bad, but the flavor is horrible. Drain pour.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Em-Té. Pale yellow with a thin white head. Lemonade shandy like aroma with lemon. Sticky sweet taste with faint malts. Best on a hot day but still quite bad.

Bottle sampled in Jun 2010: Poured a clear golden with white head. Aroma is lemon fruit with grain. The taste has that tequila hint with some lemon fruit and fresh grain. Hot day kind of beer or with Mexican style dishes.

Bottle @ home. Clear golden colored, no head. Smell lemon and probably tequila. Taste sweet and lemon or lime. Good for a hot day in the sun I guess.

Being the curious beer masochist I am, having that urge to pick up random beers at the supermarket I don’t recognize, Red Mex was on the lower shelf at a smaller supermarket somewhere in Paris. There are in fact quite a few of these "tequila" flavoured beers floating around the French supermarkets, something I’ll never quite understand as to their popularity. Chilled heavily before drinking, it poured with small lager-head and a light yellow that is probably supposed to remind you of a Corona. The aroma is sugar, lemon, old boot leather, fermented grass. The taste was a dry mix of beer and the sugariness was surprisingly subdued. Dry finish, but there was also a weird lemon-lime aftertaste. This is in fact probably a better specimen for the tequila-beer thing but it’s still not something I’d drink again.
