Bergmann Schwarz, Fläschchen vom Biermeister, Berlin-Schöneberg. - Tiefdunkles, fast schwarzes Rotbraun; dunkelbeigefarbener Schaum. (11.7.2023.)

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass with a small head. Starts mild, roasty-malty, not too sweet. Fine earthy-woody notes, mild bitterness. Well balanced roasty-malty finish. Not bad.

0.33 l bottle from 'Rudat', best before July 2019. Clear, very dark ruby to black with a medium large, frothy, stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, a bit roasty aroma of caramel, nuts and some licorice. Moderately sweet, malty, slightly bitter, a bit roasty taste of caramel, toasted nuts, some chocolate and a touch of coffee, followed by a short, moderately bitter a bit roasty finish. Almost medium-bodied, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Solid Schwarzbier, fairly quaffable.

Tight off white head left a collar on a dark mahogany coloured, finely carbonated body. Coca Cola & plum aroma. Medium to thin bodied, highly carbonated over the tongue with thin clean back & sticky aft. Heavy tastes of malt, caramel, bonfire toffee, butterscotch & sweet undefined fruit tastes. Tastes much fuller than the ABV.
