Meet Abbey Rave, our new core range tripel. It's our 21st century rendition of the classical Belgian style everyone has come to love. It's sweet yet refreshing, with a little spicy kick and that ever so recognizable Ardennes yeast to top it off. It does quite pack the punch, so a couple of these will guarantee a night full of monk(ey) business. Ingredients: water, malted barley, malted wheat, flaked oats, sugar, hops, coriander seed, orange peel, yeast. EBC 7.1

330ml can from the Jumbo, Grote Marktstraat, Den Haag. Poured a mostly clear yellow golden colour with a short-lived, fizzy white head. The aroma is yeasty, toffee, light alcohol. The flavour is moderate sweet and bitter, with a rich, smooth, yeasty, herbal, light toffee, boozy alcohol bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Small white head over faintly veiled deeper golden beer. Green grains' nose, suggesting some vegetal acidity - gurkins, but not acetic - more like milk threatening to go sour. Warming up, corianderaroma appears. Taste is more sweet-bitterish, very slightly wry. Spiced malts, I seem to get some faraway coriander - which grows, alas, warming up. Bit orange liqueur in the background. Light body - good attenuation, but quite low carbonation. Slick. If you don't like coriander, drink it at USA lager temperatures. Westmalle, please. Txs to Stef!

Schönes Dosendesign, optisch trübes Gold, feine Perlung. In der Nase Ananas, riecht irgendwie nach Pizza Hawaii. Im Trunk eher wie Wit, Orangen, Aprikosen, passt.

Can, 8.7%. Fruity aroma, yeast, clove, rustic hoppiness. Almost clear golden olour. OK stable white head. The flavour is sweetish, citric, malty. Warming alcohol presence with a little alcohol bitterness in the finish. Perhaps too sweet and full-bodied to hit the style, but it tastes really good.
