Our latest collaboration beer is with Huddersfield institution Dixons makers of unique and delicious ‘Milk Ices’ since 1961. In homage to this favourite local treat we use Golden Promise, Crystal and Carafa malts to add light maltiness and colour and Pinhead Oats and Oat Malt are then used to give a smooth and velvety body. We then added Lactose milk sugar before fermentation and a little premium Madagascan Vanilla for a nostalgically sweet and milky flavour. Just like the Milk Ice, it’s a Taste of Its Own!

330ml can. Poured a clear chestnut brown colour with a mostly lasting frothy off white head. The aroma is roasty malt, coffee, chocolate, lactose. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a smooth, rich, sweet lactose, light vanilla palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation. Nice, but lacks body and a little too sweet for such a light bodied beer.

Can: Poured a black color porter with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with some sweeter notes also perceptible. Taste is a mix of roasted malt which bitterness is offset by sweet lactose notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Nice touch but maybe a little bit too much vanilla and sugar for my taste buds.

Excellent example of the style. What style? Milk porter! Clearly light, but nicely flavourful. Lots of lactose, nicely roasty, some vanilla. Sweet and bitter, creamy and light. Some chocolatey coffee flavours pair well with sweet vanilla.
