An oak-aged ale of real distinction. Twenty Courvoisier Cognac casks were used for Brewer’s Reserve No.2, giving the ale a palate rich with woody character and brandy notes. The beer pours a deep bronze colour and carries an oaky aroma. An exceptional beer that has been brewed and blended in the finest traditions.

Bouteille 50cl de et partagée avec Tderoeck et Klaas, merci. BB end/2013, bottle# 35700.
Couleur cuivre surfant sur ambre avec un léger voile, col fin crémeux blanc-cassé.
Arôme donne de suite de fins effluves oxydés - caramel, barrique (donc du Cognac) est délicate et il faut vraiment le savoir pour même arriver à la noter - il y a fort à penser que vu la quantité produite, la barrique n'était pas ce qui ressortait en premier dans cette bière.
Palais montre de suite que l'age est bien présent. Oxydation est dominant avec un caractère de malts - caramel - once de toffee sur une base très classique anglaise - le côté Cognac est quasi absent - juste ressort cette sensation de pomme caramélisée, cela pas vraiment aidé par une effervescence en berne. Amertume délicate en fin de bouche - le tout est effectivement sur une touche anglaise - mais avec ce caractère qui se retrouve dans des productions à grande échelle - surtout sur le volet caramel qui se retrouve avec son côté doux dans de nombreuses bières de grosses productions.

Creamy off white head stayed on a copper coloured body. Huge aroma of cognac & chocolate. Medium bodied, smooth, soft & creamy thinning out to a clean back. Chocolate, cognac, marmalade & light woody tastes with a tangy citrussy finish. Outstanding.

Bottle. Dark amber color. Apple, toffee and a hint of cognac in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor, alcoholic with vanilla and cognac notes. Hints of toffee and even citrus. Fairly well balanced.

Bottle from Systembolaget. (best before end of 2013) Amber with a small head. On the sweet side with caramel, wood, malt and some hints of cardboard. Some warming alcohol in the finish.

Punertavan kuparinruskea olut vaaleanbeigellä vaahdolla, josta suurin osa häviää nopeasti ja vain hieman vaahtoa jää pidemmäksi aikaa. Tuoksu on erinomainen, toffeemaista makeutta, rypälettä, tammitynnyrin omaa makua ja vaniljaa sekä alkoholia. Maussa puumaisuutta, karamellista makeutta, lämmittävää alkoholisuutta sekä tammea/vaniljaa. Onhan tämä nautittava ja nautiskeltava olut. Edit. Würzig-malziges, intensiv Ale-typisches Bier mit toller leichter Holznote. Der Cognac ist im Hintergrund deutlich zu spüren, rund und passend. Schwer, dickflüssig aber nicht klebrig. Langer, Ale-typischer, leicht holzig-alkoholischer Nachgeschmack mit angenehmen Cognac-Noten. Toll!

Bottle - Vintage 2010 - Sweet boozy, apple, raw oak and orange. Clearish gold, copper and with a beige head. Sweet light caramel, oak wood, light boozy and sherry.

Aroma is sweetish with cognag tones, some ripe apples and toffee. Also a slight feeling of aged Belgian ale. Flavour has cognag, woody notes, some toffee and . A slight cardboardy and watery feeling in the background. Somewhat stinging and creamy palate with a bit too much CO2. Perhaps not worth aging more than this.
