Phoenix 2021 is the first barleywine in the history of Salikatt. A milestone and a start of something great. Brewed in early 2021 and patiently barrel-aged for 18 months in selected bourbon barrels.

Near clear deep amber brown beer, small and short lived tan head. Smooth palate, some viscosity, decent super fine carbonation on the back end. Soft rich malts, touches of dark toffee and caramel and a light dose of natural dark malt character. Big soft boozy rich bourbon soaked ripe fruits. A little alcohol spice. Smooth and bloody drinkable. Stays well removed from the border, as in where dark barleywines become near indistinguishable from impys. A barleywine that really only serves its barrel but, the barrel is rather spiffin.

Bottle. A sweet, full-bodied and intense experience. Modern Barley Wine of the pushing-towards-Imp Stout-kind. Alcohol, booze, oak, dark chocolate and cocoa, toffee, dark dried fruits and hints of coffee. A really nice one, although a bit too warming and boozy. 848415

2025 edition. Taster from tap 47 at Ølhallen, 13,8 % abv. Many thanks to Bjørn Arne. Bare naked surface, scattered lacing, and a deep black body. Attractive on the nose with smoothly roasted chocolate malts. Powerful flavours of dark caramel, chocolate, and dark fruits. Oaky. Long lived and very smooth chocolate malty aftertaste with a subdued bourbon bite. Enjoying. (Tromsø, 18.02.2026).

Очередной американский барлик который больше похож на стаут нежели барлик, едва заметные нотки карамели, это все что есть от стаута, остальное все от стаута, кофе, шоколад бочка. Во вкусе еще сухость и алкогольная ликерность.

On tap @MBCC. Pours black with moderate tan head. Aromas of bourbon chocolate nougat, bourbon, vanilla, and slick roasted malts. Flavor follow same with emphasis on dry oaky bourbon plus dark fruit. Warm finish. Excellent.
