Lahodné pivo, ktorého tajomstvo spočíva v harmonickej kombinácii plzenského, bavorského, karamelového a farebného sladu. Výrazná tmavá farba, originálny buket a príjemná mäkká chuť sa dnes priamo núkajú konzumentom tmavého piva.

(bottle) Clear, ruby brown colour with a beige and thick foamy head. Sweet and slightly ashy dark malty aroma with notes of molasses, milk chocolate and herbal accents. Sweet flavour, light bodied with a soft carbonation. Slightly molassy and burnt malty aroma with notes of dark bread; sweet malt-accented finish with a rather restrained level of bitterness. 29.XII.11

08/05 0.5 l bottle from Kuca piva beer shop, Zagreb. It poured dark reddish brown body with small head. Weak macro-ish dusty and caramel aroma. Sweetish flavor, caramel again, slightly fruity and dusty, with only a touch of roasted coffee that gives some acidity. Pretty thin bodied with shorter, sweetish dark malt finish. Typical macro dunkel, drinkable but not very good.

Bottle from the Kuća Piva in Zagreb. The last beer of the last night of the tasting. Poured a dark copper body with a slightly smaller than average off white head that persisted. Malty, slightly cidic nose, some dust, not that impressive. Sweet maltiness dominates the taste, slightly oily and that’s it, no more, no less. NOt the worst beer around but a slightly unfitting end to the epic (for Croatia) 3-day 46 beer tasting. But hey.

Bottle sampled carries the full name of Steiger Premium Vianočný Výčapný Ležiak 11% Tmavý Pf2011, and has a blatant Christmas finery Dark beige head, small to medium, over very deep-brown, opaque beer. Creamy chocolate nose, as praliné, and a finish of cooked, stale and cold vegetables. Very outspoken dark malts/melanoidin flavour, and some chocolate - even bitter - behind it. Woody, nearly as some dark Walloon ales. It gets a tad too sweet after warming up, however. Pretty carbonated MF, spritzy, light to medium bodied, light grist slickness. Not bad - it is a X-mas version in my book. Many thanks to Peter V. for finding this!

Bottled, from Bratislava. Very dark brown, brief head. Sugary and chocolatey. Very sweet with fairly light body, no bitterness. Pleasant chocolate flavour, but it’s way too sweet.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Bottle in Bratislava. Thick sweet dark lager. Very full bodied. Not bitter, dry finish. Reminds me of the Brahma Maltzibier I drank everywhere in Brazil.
