Sori Blind Harlequin is a twisted union of comedy and tragedy. A corrupt fusion of the jovial and the macabre. This Imperial Oatmeal Stout aged in XO Cognac barrels is a ballet of dark malts, prestige barrels and craftsmanship. A dance of the sweet and robust. Sit back, take a sip and enjoy the matinée.

Bottled. Black colour with a mediumsized off-white foamy head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is wood, some rhum like elements as well as chocolate and mild liquorice. Flavour is alcohol, some roasted malts, sugary sweetness with vanilla, wood and some mild Cognac and rhum like notes.

Smell-medium strong to strong, malt, cognac, dark chocolate, caramel, roast, alcohol. Foam-medium thick, roast, malt, dark chocolate, cognac, alcohol. Head is small, dark brown color. Appearance- colored brewer bottle cap, very nice label. Very dark brown, basically black color, weak carbonation. From- stout glass Taste- medium-thick, malt, cognac, alcohol, dark chocolate, roast, weak sweetness, alcohol. Strong stuff, very cognac-y. Not sweet, but rather malty, alcohol is not too hidden but is not crazy also. Overall - ok, but could be better, a bit boozy.

BB 06/11/23, Batch 303;Wow, Cognac really stands out, loads of barrel quality, wood, tannins, smooth vanilla, earthy notes, moderate sweetness with chocolate fudge, raisins soaked in Cognac, sweet oatmeal bar, cocoa powder, toasted sugars, spicy alcohol

Huge tan-greige head over jet-black beer. Walnut, bit mineral, dark green leaves, but also a halogen impression. Sweet and dark chocolate, and indeed a cognac-induced alcoholic sweetness, boozy. Raisins/plums on alcohol. Light alcoholthinning, still resulting in a smooth, fiery and impressive body. Not a strongly roasted stout, but it's the cognac that has to be blamed for the sweetness.

Bottled 330ml (Alko web, batch 430) Dark brown colour, small beige head. Intensive aroma of cognac, apple, raisins and caramel. Quite sweet aroma. Medium-bodied. Flavour is not too sweet: raisins, apple, Cognac or even rhum there. Body is quite thin for its ABV. Kind of sherryish vibe in this one. Not bad, thanks for aggressive barreling, this doesn't feel imperial stout based at all, I would guess that the base beer is a barley wine.

A black beer, a head is small and brown. Aroma has roastiness, ried fruits, raisin, dry barrel, hint of cognac. Taste has roastiness, dried fruits, dry barrel. Only medium+ bodied. Something, the final touch is missing, but nice to enjoy, anyway.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - batch 303 - BB 06.11.2023, from Alko, 201901220) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, cognac and wood. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, ash, wood, cognac and bitterness. Aftertaste was woody, boozy and bitter. An unbalanced boozy brew with woody notes.

Cognac barrel aged imperial stout by this prominent Estonian craft brewery, bottle at Bar Beenhouwer. Thin and open, yellow-beige ring for a head, black robe with thin, hazy chestnut brown edge. Aroma of toasted pecan nuts, hazelnut oil, bitter chocolate, cognac indeed but whisky as well, diluted charcoal, nutmeg, toffee, dried fig, candied cherry, wet wood, dried apple peel, rainwater. Sweetish onset with sourish undertone, quite fizzy carb for the style, impressions of fig, raisin, candied cherry and pear, clear haemoglobin-like ‘natural’ iron aspect, toffeeish maltiness with a deeper bitter-chocolateyness to it, light beef stock-like umami accent; mild woody tannins, the cognac eventually becomes clearly more outspoken and heats the finish, but fits well into the whole. Slightly on the crude side to be honest, I’m sure there is room for improvement in making this beer even more refined, but I had worse barrel aged beers than this one.
