Sori Blind Harlequin is a twisted union of comedy and tragedy. A corrupt fusion of the jovial and the macabre. This Imperial Oatmeal Stout aged in XO Cognac barrels is a ballet of dark malts, prestige barrels and craftsmanship. A dance of the sweet and robust. Sit back, take a sip and enjoy the matinée.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with small, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Minimally doughy, chocolately dark malty aroma, explicit but still well embedded BA notes of Cognac, notes of dark chocolate, couverture, a touch of advocaat. Taste is slightly alcoholic, BA dominated, slightly disguised, chocolately, dark malty basis, a fruity touch of baked apple, pear, alcohol soaked fruit; full body, oily to viscous texture, smooth and soft, minimally sticky palate. Minimally overdone Cognac notes - accordingly relatively monotonous, one-dimensional and a bit over the top. The Cognac is not bad, though...

Opaque dark brown beer, good bubbly tan head. Smooth airy palate, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth and rich dark chocolate laden malts. Soft wood. Good brandy soaked ripe fruits. The only thing holding this one back is a small but noticable dose of those BA induced emulsion paints. Smooth finish. Nearly great. Nearly!

Bottle at ujh. Pours black with beige head. Aroma is sweet, roast, cognac. Flavor is sweet and bitter, roast, cognac, wood, dryness, malt. Finish is sweet and dry. Overall: very barrel heavy, but not too cognac-y. I really like cognac barrel dryness, so this is good.

30 November 2018. Billie's Craft Beer Fest. Cheers to Anke, tderoeck & 77ships! Cloudy black with a lasting, thin, off-white head. Aroma of cognac, oak, red grape, licorice, hazelnut, milk chocolate, blackcurrant & raisin. Taste is medium malty sweet, some vanilla & chocolate, fruity accent of raisin, red grape & blackcurrant, rendering it a bit sour; light roasted bitterness brings fondant & chocolate powder. Dryish, peppery hoppy finish, lingering raisin, woody vanilla, warming cognac alcohol. Medium to full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. A bit messy in its BA execution.

Sampled at Billie's 2018. Black with dark creamy head. Aroma and flavour have plenty of cognac sweetness. Also some apple pips. Smooth.
