You hold in your hand a stout for stout lovers. Buried Hatchet is brewed with a large quantity of brown malt reminiscent of a traditional pre-Industrial Revolution malt profile. This stout is full of robust, roasted flavors which intermingle with a bittersweet creaminess that concludes to a perfect, warming finish. [Moving from stout to RIS given the high abv above 8% -GT2]

Can courtesy of atxdelivery. Pours black. Tan head. Odd uneven retention. Nose of charred malt, roast coffee, milk chocolate and vanilla. Taste of roast coffee, creamy milk chocolate and vanilla. Roasty and creamy at the same time. Delicious.

12oz Can I love it when you can get a pretty good stout out of a can. Pours out dark brown almost black topped with a tan head. Aroma was sweet milk chocolate, dark roast, coffee, and molasses. Taste was much as the aroma with a nice mix of sweetness and light bitterness.

Dark brown with a small tan head. Loads of chocolate, caramelized brown sugar, lightly roasted malts in the aroma. Medium bodied. Chocolate, roasty malts, light earth, light molasses, powdered cocoa. Mouth is nearly dry but not actually dry. Where did they hide that alcohol? Real nice stout that will sneak up on you.

Can. A hazy deep red beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of chocolate, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of chocolate, caramel, and malt, leading to a dry and roasted finish.

12 oz. can, $1.50 loose @ Lemon Tree. Despite my love of Guinness, the concept of a big American Stout in a can is still a novelty to me. But one I like. Straight into a shaker glass I have a big brown head looking like Swiss cheese up top. Deep brown body beneath. Sweet chocolate smell from the can. In the glass, more grain and a touch of hop, Maybe some molasses? Taste just brings more of the chocolate roast home. Then there are the threads of bitter roast malt and some coffee. Nice and dry stout. This flavor profile would have been helped by a "widget," but the carbonation level here is a little high, it does help bring the beer taste in. Very drinkable for a higher alcohol stout. Might age pretty well, even in cans.

Can 35,5 cl. Courtesy of MaltOMeal. Pours a clear orangey brown with a huge and frothy beige head, excellent retention leaving quite some lacework. Lovely roasted aroma with quite some dark fruits as well. Medium body, hard roast malts, vinous, dark fruits and chocolate. Thereβs a vaguely tart whiff. Hard roast finish but not really bitter. Lovely. 021110
