2008 bottle. Deep dark brown color. malt, honey, ginger and coreander in the aroma. Malty sweet, slightly oaky flavor with honey, coreander and ginger. Just a bit alcoholic. Sticky mouthfeel, pear in the aftertaste. Maybe a bit disappointing.

Special edition of Balthazar, matured on oak chips. Loose, light beige head, dark ruby brown colour. Fruity, lots of raisins, dates, pear, caramelly malty, candi syrup, cognac, wood; dried fruits in the taste, sweet maltiness, full and mellow mouthfeel, rich, subtle wood tones and brandy-like, warming alcohol in the finish. One of their many beers to sip carefully.

18/IV/14 - 33cl bottle from Den Zytholoog / Bierloods (Adegem) @ home - BB: IX/2011, bottled: 2008 (2014-372)
Clear dark brown beer, small irregular off-white head, little stable, little adhesive. Aroma: very peppery, pepper corns, ginger bread, floral, orange peel. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sourish start, bit smoky, pretty bitter from the tannins I guess. Aftertaste: little bitter, sourish notes, sour cherries, blackberries, cherry bubble gum, smoky touch, bitter tannins. Has survived the ageing process pretty damn well, I'd say!

Cloudy brown beer. Softish semi dry palate. Tart sour fruitiness with a little dry spice. Nicely offset by oaky softness (not too much vanilla though). Finishes dry and a little creamy with some alcohol warmth.

9/10/9/8/fl/9
