Das schwarze, aromatisch-milde Dunkle vom Donnersberg ist ein untergäriges Bier. Neben dem normalen Gerstenmalz wird ein dunkler Röstmalz verwendet. Dadurch entsteht die schwarzbraune Farbe. Das wenig hopfenbetonte Bier beeindruckt durch ein angenehmes Röstmalzaroma. Sein kräftiger Geschmack erinnert an Röstkaffee. Der weiche Abgang klingt mit einer leichten Karamellbitternote aus.

Nice bite of espresso bitterness with hints of dark chocolate and some dried fruit. Pours black with an airy, foamy beige head Palate is slightly watery, but overall this beer hits the mark for a schwarzbier. Not a big fan of their pils, but this one is nice.

Draught as "Bischoff Black Lager", clear brownish colour, light coffee aroma, flavour dominated by dried fruits with some hints of coffee, light bitterness and no roastiness, feels a bit watery. Dull and uninteresting.

Sampled from a 12 oz green bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with a small beige head that lingered and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was perfumey, bitter and tart. The flavor was perfumey, bitter, tart and only mildly malty. The finish was long and perfumey. Medium body. Eh.

So, this bottle has a white label, black neck ring and its called bischoff premium black lager. Good friendly beery smell with a tad of that green bottle aroma. Very dark. OK dark lager flavors. Has a tad of that processed metal background in there. Decent co2. Goes down rather well. Becomes more friendly as the session continues. Not bad overall. Almost gets you there.

Bottle 500ml. @ home.Clear medium to dark red brown color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, hay, caramel, dusty, bread. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, dusty malt, bread, light metalic. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light metalic. [20110126]

Bottle that looks just like the image - from Beer Geek. Pours dark black with ruby hilites on the edges, and a frothy three-finger beige head that does a good job of lacing. Nice roasted malt aroma. Near medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is nicely toasted/burnt malt with wonderful dried fruit notes. Finishes burnt with accompanying bitter and raisiny notes. Very nice lager.

500 mL bottle from Sam’s Quik Shop in Durham, NC. Pours a copper tinted brown color with a large offwhite head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of lightly roasted malts, raisins, caramel and a faint metallic note. Taste is raisin, caramel, diet cola. Kinda weird. Very fizzy. Thin-medium bodied.

Bottle, 5.2%. Roasted and slightly dry aroma. Clear dark brown colour. Small light brown head. The flavour is roasted, not as dry as the aroma suggests. Good body, especially for the style. Rye bread notes, hint of liquorice. A good Schwarzbier.
