Bottle at Lost Abbey. Murky brown pour with a tan head that stays tan head. Phenolic, band-aid, horseblanket aroma. Some cherry and red wine, with light caramelized and vinous notes. Taste is very acidic, red wine, awesome, complex horsey aromas with notes of cherry lingering. Dry and acidic, lively bubbles. Another great Veritas.

Slow moving gusher of a bottle - dark burgundy pour with a frothy, well-sustained head - nose of oaky tannins, kriek-ish cherry character, moderate acetic qualities, mellow funk, and an underlying sweet malt base - full but fairly soft carbonation - equal parts sweet and acetic, making for decent balance - damp oak and quite a bit of sour cherry - subtle cheesy funk way in the back - vinegar character becomes a little strong in the finish, but otherwise this is a fairly restrained and balanced sour coming from this brewer.

Blind tasting with tarheels86, thank you sir. Dark maroon color, solid tan head, good lacing. Aroma of citrus, caramel, anise. Taste is sour, plenty of summer fruits, cinnamon. Great complexity and character. This should be classified as a sour ale, not a Belgian strong. Wonderful beer.

10th September 2008. Sour start but thankfully not dominated by sourness as the oaky notes reign it in. Fairly dry and bitter finish. Not beer nirvana for moi!

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy dark brown/amber color with a small longlasting off-white head. Has a malty dark fruit nutty and slightly yeasty aroma with hints of caramel. Smooth malty and slightly tart cherry flavor with some oaky hints and some hints of caramel and dark fruit. Has a smooth malty and slightly tart cherry finish.

Bottled. A murky dark amber beer with a thick lazing tan head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, brettanomyces, wood, and fungy horseblanket. The flavor is sweet and acidic with strong notes of fruit, and medium notes of brettanomyces and wood, leading to a tart finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle Pours out a nice amber topped with a sand head. Aroma was very nice and the longer the bottle was open the better the aroma got. Lots of fruit, apple, cherry, sweet candy. WOW. Tast was very nice cherry syrup (in a good way) sweet caramel and even a little bitter on the end. very nice a big thanks to Footbalm.

At beginning of the night I was finally impressed with a LA brew but then of course there had to be a regression to the mean with this over-hyped beer. Shared by puzzl, thanks a lot. Poured into a copita glass with a murky brown color. Aroma is barrel heavy with a cherry astringency, definite sour and a leafy/grassy overbearing oak. Taste is thing and buttery from the oak sugars, which are way too strong here. The flavor is watery with sour tinges. There is a good beer somewhere underneath all this barrel here. It also seemed a lot like the CdT, but I am not really an expert in all these beers, just seemed that way. Another example of the new American Sour and I have had many other breweries that are much less touted that make a similar brew.8/3/7/3/15

Has a small sample at RBSG’09, I forgot that I actually rated this (its hard to keep all these different Veritas brews straight). Well it wasn’t any better, maybe even worse, muddy and buttery with little sourness to it. The age isn’t helping at all.
