Festbier is the king of Donzoko lineup.

Released once a year, this deep gold lagerbier has a rich malt body, thanks to a long decoction mash of Vienna and Munich malts. A generous helping of Tettnang and Blanc hops give way to a crisp, bitter finish.

Can from HoTM. It pours crystal clear golden - copper with a thick and study white head. The aroma is bready malts, cereal, nuts, spice, grass, rivita and earth. The taste is dry, rather bitter, earthy, nutty, spice, metallic twang, cereal, earth and soapy florals with a drying bitter, nutty finish. Medium body and moderate, prickly carbonation. A bit toothy after a while. It's ok, but lacks the drinkability. Ok, but sub par for donzoko.

Can at home from HOTM online, 03/11/20. Very moderate haze on a golden amber pour with a decent light egg shell white covering that retains well. Nose is pale and bready malts, fruit slice, grains, cereals, light nana. Taste comprises dusty fruits, light caramel, raisins, brown bread, light sugars, slight bitter edge. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok marzen but not quite singing to me .... just a little too much tang and bitterness.
