Kevin from Cascade Brewing stopped by. He brought some Oregon grown organic malt with him. Half of this collaborative brew ended up in our coolship, the other half was inoculated with Kevins malt. The two halves were fermented and matured in separate barrels to observe any differences in developement (nerds). One barrel was really sour, one super funky. Then we blended them and added loads of peach and cherries. Ta-daa —> sour fruit beer.

Bottle, 375ml corked. Courtesy of the brewery. It pours a clear, pale ruby color and almost no head. No completely still though. The aroma quite funky, with a touch of yoghurt in the far back. Some dough notes. Lemon, leather, some barnyard and a good dash of cherry. There's a faint touch of marzipan too. It's full bodied, quite tart and pleasantly carbonated, with a very light alcohol warmth. Cherries, funk and a light doughy touch in the flavor. Tannin-rich, cherry driven finish with a good funkyness and a hint of marzipan. A very pleasant one indeed, this is the way to do it if you're not in the Senne valley and wants to make sour beers. 220209

8-3-7-4-15 Bottle, #315, 6 months after bottling. Pours cloudy red, with no head. Aroma is lactic acid with tart fruity notes of cherry pits, plums, marzipan and tannins, as well as some slight funky notes. Medium to full body, with average carbonation. Flavour is lactic acid with fruity notes of cherry pits, rhubarb, plums and tannins.

Bottle. Unclear amber body under a dense white head. Aroma is funky with red berries and wood. Taste is very refreshing with acidic red berries, funk, wood and some fruit in general. Fine body and nice aftertaste is the same direction.

Pours slightly hazy red with a fizzy short lasting pinkish head. Aroma is sour with notes of sour cherry, malt, funk and hint of green gooseberries and peaches. Taste is light sweet and medium sour with a long dry, tart, cherry and berry finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft to fizzy.

0,375 flaske fra VP Kvaddå, delt med eiendomsmagnaten: lett uklar mørk kirsebærrød med kort skum og funky innledning. Det åpner seg opp med plenty av kirsebær og muligens litt rabarbra og hint av høy. Fersken derimot er vanskeligere å få øye på. Sursyrlig helhet med deilig, ganerensende effekt. Saftig og elegant, med tørr avslutning.
