Our first new year-round beer since 1996, Lunar Ale is in a category all its own.

Boulevard Lunar Ale is a cloudy, russet brown beer, with subtle aromatic notes provided by our special proprietary yeast strain. Lunar Ale’s distinctive rounded, mellow flavor is crowned by a crisp, dry finish. The old world art of bottle conditioning creates a secondary fermentation, resulting in a beer that tastes fresher, better, longer.

Bottle from Lithy, thanks! Orange brown color, hazy. Malt and a hint of nutmeg in the aroma. Malty sweetish flavor with pear and nutmeg. Not unpleasant, but not outstanding.

From Aug 2008

I bought a sealed 6pack and low and behold, when I opened it, the bottles said best by 02/09/08. Here's hoping...

It pours a clear medium amber brown with a small head of foam with some lacing.

The smell has some graininess to it along with a faint clove and some earthiness.

The taste has notes of wheat, lemon, some clove, a touch of banana, and it has an earthy finish.
It has a light mouthfeel and the carbonation is high.

Well, nothing special about this well past best by date sample but it's not all that bad so I might try revisiting it in the future. Most of Boulevard's offerings are *very* solid.

Hazy reddish brown - impressive, soapy lace - fairly sweet in the nose - notes of clove, nutmeg, roasted nuts, light tanginess, cherry and overripe apple - flavors of toasted wheat, soft herbal notes, clove, mild nuttiness, moderate wheaty tang - a touch of metallic character in the finish is a bit of a distraction - otherwise a fairly good dark wheat.

12 ounce bottle from the Libation Station in Johnson City, TN. Pours a hazy orange color with a very thin head that fades quickly. Aroma of bread, caramel and faint nuts and hops. The taste is a bit of bread and spice with some very faint malty and fruity notes. Medium bodied. Pretty boring.

Bottle. Caramel malt aroma. Clear copper color with small head. Light caramel malt flavor with light lemon hops finish. Watery body. No apparent esters. Easy drinking beer - not many typical weizen characteristics though.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy yellow ochre with a lasting white head. Aroma is light with a combination of light citrus hops and some sweeter malts. Flavor has more of a citrus hop punch with the malts taking more of a backseat.

12oz bottle. Pours a nice clean medium brown with a white head that disappears pretty fast and doesn’t leave any lace. Aroma is sharp banana and wheat. Taste is thin with wheat flavor. Leaves a spicy aftertaste in my mouth.

12oz bottle scored via trade with inkubus27. Thanks Tim! Pours a translucent, copper, ruby amber with a thin white head that faded fast. Aroma is fairly pleasant, malts and crackers, slightly fruity, slightly earthy. Flavor has some dark fruits, earthy, some light citrus, some wheat. Finish is medium bodied and dry. Better than the regular wheat.

12oz bottle. Thick orange-brown color. Nice half inch head that sticks around. The aroma is mild, a little doughy with some chocolate banana nuances. Mild and smooth on the palate, with some creamy dark malt notes. A little too earthy to be a straightforward Dunkel, but a little thin compared with most Dunkelweizens. Clean and fresh, a pretty enjoyable beer.
