Offici-ALE Weather Report: There’s a Citrus Squall moving in!
National weather reports confirm there’s a squall (of the delicious kind!) brewing and it’s set to touch down in cities from coast to coast. Our best advice? Grab your ponchos … er, pint glasses and get ready!
We’re proud to introduce Citrus Squall … the perfect storm of a double golden ale and a paloma cocktail brewed with grapefruit juice, blue agave nectar, lime peels and a touch of sea salt.
At 8.0% ABV, Citrus Squall brings strong gusts of citrusy hop and grapefruit aromas, counterbalanced by a downpouring of bright and tart grapefruit flavor and a blue agave nectar sweetness. Starting on the East Coast, Citrus Squall will quickly billow out and roll its way to taps and shelves across the nation both on draft and in 6pk/12oz cans, expected to hit ground in early spring. Ahead of its arrival, Dogfish suggests the following preparation plan.
How to Spot (& Enjoy) a Citrus Squall:
1. Visit your favorite local store, beer distributor, bar or restaurant.
2. Quickly make your way to the craft beer section of the location or menu.
3. Calmly seek out Citrus Squall’s bright magenta-pink packaging or tap handle.
4. Get ready for a delicious storm of tequila-inspired grapefruit flavor!

$2 single from Appalachian. Mojito glass @home. Frothy, jellied, medium gold, half hazy. Pushy, sweet grapefruit & a tart lime nose. Sweet, syrupy, lost most of the citrus, agave gives a honey feel, not tart enough at all, weak carb, kind of a messy strong ale feel. Meh.

Pours a hazy straw from a can. Big grapefruit aroma, like really big. Kind of grainy flavor in addition to the grapefruit. Good beer.

Off-pink can for $2 at giant eagle. Smells like fresh lemon-hinted orange juice. Hazy pale with slow rising CO2. First taste is somewhat spiked orange juice, reminds me of a few fruity malt-soda-like non-beer alky beverages I've had. Yea, now I think I'm getting the grapefruit, so many of those blasted citrus types overlap on the buds. Goes down easy, maybe I'm getting some unfermented sugar in there. In the middle, alky does start to stick its uncivilized head up, just somewhat. Maybe a little warming sensation down in the alvinolagnia. Well, there, you have it; another bubbly fruity orange juice alky laden thingy. In the end, it does what its s'posed to do. Sea salt? What sea salt? A little more carbonation would make it a bit more exciting.

Tap at beervana Newport news. A light hazed yellow straw coloured pour with a frorhy white head. Aroma is vibrant lemon rind, lemonade, grass, loose wheat. Flavour is composed of semi sweet tart earthy lemon, verbena, loose wheat, grass, palate is crisp and tart, frothy carbonation. Little oxidised.
