Bottle @ home. Black and opague. Roast, dark chocolate, vanilla, oak and malt whisky in the aroma. Salty, malty flavor with dark chocolate drenched in whisky. Even hints of peat and licorice. The malty sweetness is challenged by alcohol. A taste bomb with power and compelxity.

Draft. A black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, bread, and alcohol, leading to a very dry and roasted finish. Over the top for me

Copenhagen. Opaque black beer. Palate starts crisp, turns frothy. Flavour is warming dark malts with an appley sweetness. Alcohol spice. Not much barrel here. Decent enough - strong and dark.

(Bottle, purchased at Ölbutikken, Copenhagen, a couple of years ago) Pitch black colour with frothy, brown head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of strong black coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice, dried fruit, raisins in rum and hints of oak wood and whisky. Roasted, malty taste with strong sweet espresso, dark chocolate, cocoa, liquorice, oak wood, vanilla, whisky and a warming finish with a touch of alcohol and hints of dried fruit. Full body, slightly oily mouthfeel, fairly sweet. Quite powerful in most aspects, but still well balanced and very tasty. Lovely beer!

25 cl bottle vintage 2008 @ Beer Hunter’s, 31.12.2012
Aroma has some bourbon, woody notes and some vanilla. Flavour has stinging, somewhat sour bourbon, some wood, licorice and hints of ash. Good, but too strong on woody and bourbon notes. Worse than the Coal version.
