In American Rated X means that something is not allowed for kids, With Rated XX we’ve made a beer that’s SERIOUSLY not suited for kids. But on that note we have to admit, that we’re just kids ourselves. Nothing but geeky kids who love to play around with….hops. Most things have already been tried in the wondrous world of beer, but we seriously doubt that any other brewery has ever released a beer that contains: Zeus, Mittelfrüh, Brewers Gold, Crystal, Simcoe, Perle, Mt, Hood, Hersbrücker, Challenger, Fuggles, Liberty, Styrian Goldings, Columbus, Chinook, Amarillo, Bramling Cross, East Kent Goldings, Willamette, Palisade and Saaz hops in the same brew. Yep, you got it right, we’ve added no less than 20 (XX) different hops during our 120 minute boil. A new addition of hops every 3 minutes. To balance this hoppy hell we created a solid malt bill consisting of English Crystal and Maris Otter malts. Out of all this rises a fairly solid Imperial IPA that – not surprisingly – is rather hoppy. In your glass you’ll find a complex mist of hop aroma with the smooth peachy notes being the most prominent. Rated XX is the ultimate wet dream for all you hopheads out there. Try it now, ‘cause you’ll never get the chance again.

2009-09-21, batch 70, parallel tasting with the Rated XX 2009, 8-5-8-5-16=42
Hazy dark amber color; big head. Strong fruity hops aroma, sweet, raisins and bitter oranges, withered oranges; very light cheese. Strong body structure; it has a reasonably sweet caramel flavor, with just hints of chocolate malts, and round mouthfeel; good hopping and strong bitterness, possibly no longer very fresh, but still with good resins. Powerful final, quite balanced, with just a bit more of roasted malts. Excellent.

Hazy dark amber color with red shades; creamy head. It has a very nice hop aroma, fruity and earthy, also some yeast. Full bodied, with a very strong caramel flavor, herbal candies, sweet enough; it has a strong bitterness, with citrusy and resiny hops. Very good.

2008-05-16, bottle at Ølfestival 2008, Århus, 7-5-7-4-15=38
Hazy amber color; creamy head. Earthy hops aroma. Good body, bold caramel flavor and bold bitterness; differently from others, this one has a sharp cheesy touch at the end! The final starts becoming a bit harsh too. Strange but good.

Bottled, thanks baggio! Hazy dark amber, creamy head. Rich hoppy apricot aroma. Sweet with some caramelly malt hidden underneath massive layers of resiny, apricoty hops. Very bitter finish.

Muddy chestnut beer with a lasting creamy tan head. Giant hop aroma, but some malt is actually showing through. Citrus and pine, but also some spicy hops - somewhat muddy impression. Somewhat sweet with a great initial hop flavour (mostly pine) and bitterness. Towards the end, it feels a little chalky. Alcohol provides both sweetness and a rather rough bitterness. May have been best completely fresh, or in small doses, but I had to downrate a little after having a full bottle two months after first trying it.
