In American Rated X means that something is not allowed for kids, With Rated XX we’ve made a beer that’s SERIOUSLY not suited for kids. But on that note we have to admit, that we’re just kids ourselves. Nothing but geeky kids who love to play around with….hops. Most things have already been tried in the wondrous world of beer, but we seriously doubt that any other brewery has ever released a beer that contains: Zeus, Mittelfrüh, Brewers Gold, Crystal, Simcoe, Perle, Mt, Hood, Hersbrücker, Challenger, Fuggles, Liberty, Styrian Goldings, Columbus, Chinook, Amarillo, Bramling Cross, East Kent Goldings, Willamette, Palisade and Saaz hops in the same brew. Yep, you got it right, we’ve added no less than 20 (XX) different hops during our 120 minute boil. A new addition of hops every 3 minutes. To balance this hoppy hell we created a solid malt bill consisting of English Crystal and Maris Otter malts. Out of all this rises a fairly solid Imperial IPA that – not surprisingly – is rather hoppy. In your glass you’ll find a complex mist of hop aroma with the smooth peachy notes being the most prominent. Rated XX is the ultimate wet dream for all you hopheads out there. Try it now, ‘cause you’ll never get the chance again.

Hazy amber color, steadty creamy beige head. Fresh hoppy nose. Liquerish mouthfeel. Licorice, sweet malts, caramel and lots of hops - very nicely in balance. Licorice and hops in the aftertaste.

Bottle at RBESG Grand Tasting 2008. Hazy copper colour, lasting beige head. Shed loads of hop. 20 different hops apparently. It is enormously hoppy. Very metallicy hoppy. Unbalanced and silly, but I really like it. Sticky. It does mean that you get a conflict in all the hop aromas/flavours.

Bottle. Pours a hazy amber color with a longlasting off-white head. Has a spicy hoppy grapefruit aroma. Spicy hoppy bitter grapefruit flavor. Long hoppy bitter grapefruit finish with a long bitter aftertaste.

Nice hazy pale amber coloured, medium sized airy pale beige head, intensive flowery hoppy nose. Strong aromatic bitter hoppy and fruity taste. Decent beer. If I tried it at home, it would certainly get better rates, but like this it’s also very good.

Bottled. HAzy opaque orange colour with small beige head. Aroma is very fruity and hoppy. Flavour is hoppy, grassy and has some slight notes of spices. A really nice and wellbalanced brew.

RBESG08 grand tasting. Murky light brown body, lasting medium sized off white head. Pleasant nose. Pungent agrumey, lemony to be more precise hopiness and some caramel. Starts with a huge frontal assault of bitterness, piney and citrusy and still manages to be pleasant. I like it but 20 different hops is overkill.

500ml bottle from Barley Wine, Copenhagen. Shared with Finn Arvid on a hotel room in Copenhagen. Hazy, dark brown body colour topped by beige head. Nice laceworks on the glass. Tangy hop aroma with the support of dark malts. Heavy hopped taste with liquorice notes, leading to a robust and lingering bitter ending. Full bodied and somehow too heavy to drink - but still a great brew (01.06.2008).

Drunk to celebrate my rating number 10,600. Bottled. A hazy dark red beer with a huge orangey head. The aroma is very hoppy - you get the sense far away from the glass, as it just sits on the table, when you stick your nose in the glass notes of over ripe fruits, alcohol, caramel, and plums comes at you. The flavor is sweet, but balaced by an enourmous bitterness, and mixing in are notes of grass, hops, caramel, alcohol, over ripe fruits, fresh citrus fruits, and straw. The bitter finish lingers for a long while with some notes of citrusy hops lingering around. Nice.
