Be careful . . . this Beast is fierce. Its bite comes initially from raw cacao – the intensely-flavored little bean that gives chocolate its toothsome character (pun intended), but is followed quickly by the glorious bitterness and floral aroma of heaps of Noble hops. Just the right amount of chewy, roasted malts round out those edgy flavors to create the perfectly-balanced, creamy stout.
Leave the syrupy-sweet drinks for others. Velvety smooth, like luscious dark chocolate in your glass, Two-Headed Beast is for aesthetes and sophisticates only. Wait a second . . . that’s you, isn’t it?

Like everything we brew at High & Mighty, this chocolate stout is unfiltered and unpasteurized for maximum flavor, and is brewed in small batches, so it’s always fresh.

Malts: American Pale malt, English Chocolate and Brown malts, and Roasted Barley
Hops: German Perle, Czech Saaz
Available in 22 ounce bottles and in kegs.

Bottle at DC local tasting. Dark brown, edge head. Aroma of burnt cocoa. Taste is like a thin bodied chocolate soda. Interesting, and decent enough to try again.

Pours dark black into an English pint. Mocha head with good retention top hats as it slowly recedes to coat surface. Chocolate syrup aromas. Dry and thin with sour chocolate and pit fruit. Lasting mocha finish.

The bomber pours deep dark with dark tan head. The aroma has a pleasing dark chocolate note followed by mild levels of burnt malts and coffee. The taste is much the same with solid dark bitter chocolate that seems to dominate the flavor. In the background are notes of malts, dark roasted malts and some earthiness. Not a velvety smooth chocolate stout but rather more bitter chocolate than anything else.

Shaker pour at 4th Ave. Pub. Black color and a tan head. Aroma is strong coffee, well done and not turning pepper-like. The coffee is thick, earthy, and rich. There is a lot of sweet chocolate brownie as well. Taste is again full of this chocolate brownie with light dry coffee bean. Very nice beer, just goes to show the 2-faceness of this brewery.

On tap at Bruxellensis. Black body and tan head. Apparently it’s a choc stout. Tarry aroma, some choc. It’s a pretty tarry charcoally stout. Nice intense bits. Too thin in the the mouth though.

Draught Pitch-black beer with a dense, lacy yellow-brown head. Ink, dark leaves, chocolate and cigarette ash. little hops. More ink in the taste, walnut, some dry, bitter chocolate, and more ashes, jacket potato from the ashes. Quite slick & oily, near chewy. Quite OK, just not very... superior.
