Black. Gusher, brown head. Aroma of strong bourbon, oak, cherry, licorice, vanilla. Taste is very fizzy, sour, bitter with prunes and raisins. Bourbon shock in the middle. Infection probably lends a bit of character to it.

Blind tasting at Papsø’s
Black color; medium creamy head. The aroma shows some roasted malt, wood, vanilla, light sourness. The flavor mixes equally the chocolate and the roasted malt; the body is medium, there is light sourness; alcohol warmth; strange but dynamic. Interesting, but I’m undecided if I’m impressed or less.

Bottle 75cl. @ Papsoes blindtasting. [ Bottle #12. ]Clear dark brown color with a large, creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is light heavy malty, roasted, caramel, berry sour, moderate wood, bourbon - red wine, cherry notes. Flavor is heavy sweet, moderate acidic and light to moderate bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20090612]

Bottled. A black beer with a huge brown head. The aroma is sweet and acidic with notes of roasted malt, brettanomyces, alcohol, and wood as well as a light smoke note. The flavor is sweet and acidic with notes of roasted malt, citrus, and wood, as well as light notes of chocolate and alcohol, leading to a dry and tart finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

From bottle, blind #12. Pours dark brown to black with a slowly collapsing tan head. Dry fruity, berry, lacto and roasted aroma. Smooth fruity, light sulphorish and crisp acidity and citrusy base flavoured. Smooth sulphorish berry fruity flavoured into the far finish alongside a touch of bourbon. Nice, subtle and utterly well balanced.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of bu11zeye. Pours an opaque dark brown with a dense light brown head. Lightly tart aroma of wood and bourbon. Medium body, lightly tart woody accents, hard roasted malts, a little bourbon and vanilla. Dry and lightly acidic finish. Yummy. 120609

Courtesy jdubfl, thanks Justin. Pours deep dark with frothy tan head. The aroma is sour sourness and a little else. The taste has hints of roast and malts and bourbon before the sourness ratchets up the tartness, crushed aspirin, sour and sense of tart un-ripe berry fruitiness. Interesting.

courtesy of jdubfl. Interesting and amazing beer, a bitter porter. Pours black with beige head. Aroma has good tart nose with light oak wood. Taste, tartness at first with caramel malts and chocolate following with dark fruits (currants). Overall bourbon mouthfeel is weak and adds a light smokey touch to the palate.

Batch 1 bottle from CaptainCougar, shared with ilovedarkbeer. Pours with a very large, light brown head that leaves great lacing as it falls over the black body. Aroma of brett, slight cherries, some chocolate, bourbon, smoke and a bit floral. Taste is fruity, smokey and bretty/earthy, with vanilla, chocolate covered cherries, and oak char. Light bubbles and a creamy mouthfeel. Very nice...
