The twelfth 'Bucketlist' beer by Musketeers, a traditionally made Belgian style honey beer this time. Bottle from Drankgigant. Very thick and foamy, large-bubbled yet tightly rocky, irregularly lacing, egg-white head resting heavily on an initially lightly misty, pure golden beer with apricot tinge and disparate small-bubbled sparkling throughout, turning deeper 'old gold' and a bit more hazy further on. Aroma a bit lightstruck at first (mercaptans - the bottle, though a brown one, must have been standing in too much light for too long) but after this fades, less offensive impressions appear, of dry Graham crackers, dry hay, sweetclover, chamomile, freshly cut garden weeds and grass, unripe apricot, Conference pear peel, white pepper, old dry herbes de Provençe, old worn-out rubber, raw parsnip, old lemon zest. Crisp, dryish onset, sharply carbonated with somewhat numbing effect (large-bubbled), hints of green pear and hard unripe apricot but very low in sweetness; supple body, grainy and cracker-like pale malts, bread crust, under peppery and flowery hops providing a long bitterness which accentuates the dryness. Part of that 'floweriness' of course comes from the fermented honey, which has left no sweet residue at all - only spicy, floral aromas, as in any artisanal and fully fermented honey ale. Hints of old dried lemon peel, white pepper and unripe green pear linger, along with an earthier yeasty note. Dry and crisp, well-hopped bitter blonde of sorts, fairly decent but I would not have minded a tad more caramelly maltiness for good measure, as in this entirely pale malt form, it feels a bit onedimensional. There are better honey beers in this country - see Dupont's Bière de Miel, Saint-Monon's Triple au Miel or even Boelens' Bieken (nowadays at least), but this one passes, I guess - just do not expect honeyish sweetness à la Lefêbvre's Barbãr Blonde.

Good honey Ale, not too exaggerated, but generally needs some cleaning.

Good yellowish head, lacey, over hazy orange beer. Bit caramelly nose, fiery, definitely honey; toast and a whiff of solvent. Sweetish impression, if fleetingly, followed by dry, bit metallic bitterness. Bitter honey. Again slightly burning MF. Caramel reappearing, certainly warming up. Hints of garden herbs. Quite slick, medium bodied, well-carbonated. Nice!

Golden colour with big fluffy head. Sweetish malts and obvious spicy Belgian yeast with a touch of clove and dust. Honey sweetness is fairly generic.

Fles gedeeld door Roelzie. Het is een troebel geel bier met een volle witte schuimkraag. Het heeft een aroma van kruiden en honing. De smaak is vol, kruidig met een zacht zoete honing afdronk.
