Re-rate Light coffee (with a lot of sugar) aroma plus a bit lactic acid and a hint bitterhops. Red black, creamy low brown head. It is yet another variation of the Schwarzer Abt: Sweet sugar and roasted smoky malt. Not quite as sweet as the Abbot though. With age the beer seems to gain a round fruity coffee note. Full body, creamy mouthfeel, milkchocolate aftertaste, with a dash of bitterhops barely detectable. I saw on german tv that they have a kind of spa where you have bathtubs with taps. Both to add beer to the bathtub and to fill your glass of course :-)

This has more characteristics of a good porter than a lager, but it lacks the body of a porter. Strong coffee and chocolate flavors, with a smooth finish. Not bad. Not bad at all.

I liked this better than the Blackened Voodoo Schwarzbier because it was not as overly carbonated. Black color and decent head/lacing. I can't see dropping $3.50 to add this to my bathwater though. Usually you take a bath to get rid of the beer smell, not vice versa. Fairly sweet malty maple flavor with coffee notes. I'd have this one again.

Almost black; Toasty aroma - slight coffee; palate has dry, husky dark malts....then the problems start showing up. There is too much carbonation, and the body gets thin. As it warms, cardboardy flavours come out. Clearly, this sample has spent too much time in the distribution chain. The flavours are pretty good (like a cappucino & a peanut doughnut), though, so a fresh bottle would be worth drinking. I have ignored the flaws as best as I could in my rating.
