Can. Clear, deep golden beer with a nice beige head. Vague hints of cooked vegetables starts the aroma, and is soon joined by caramel and grain. Malty flavor with caramel and a little grainyness. Medium to thin, soft mouthfeel. Caramel and bitterness finish. Not much bitterness though. An industrial beer without any interest. (070510)

(Draught at Carlsberg Visitors Center, Copenhagen, 19 May 2007) Dark brown/amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, grainy nose with slightly roasted notes. Malty taste with roasted, nutty notes and a slightly sweetish finish. Not bad, but hardly interesting.

(Bottle 33 cl) Very pretty bronze coloured with a nice, lasting head. Quite lovely and full-bodied beer with a distinct bitterness and an underlying sweetness from both malts and the added syrup. Not a bad offering. 030503

Typical danish industrial beer: Nothing good and nothing bad, just an average beer.

(330 ml bottle, bought in Denmark). I knew Carlsberg added pure refined sugar syrup to this beer (it’s on the label), and that made me sceptical and maybe a little prejudiced even before opening the bottle. Beautiful copper colour, moderate head. Aroma has a nice maltiness which unfortunately is overwhelmed by sugary and syrupy notes. Flavour is not quite as sweet as I feared, still something is wrong: the syrup, no doubt.
To think that Carlsberg actually retired Tuborg Rød and introduced THIS in stead ..... Idiots!
