From tap at La Cerveteca and 33 cL bottle from the same place. Pours dark brown, clear, and with a golden orange glare. huge off-white to tan head. Dry roasted malt with a classic Hoepfner house character. Flavour is nicely roasted malt with a light metallic note in the bottle but not in the tap version. Subdued sweetness initially going into a rather dry roasted and bitter flavour. Ends with a nice lingering roasted malt flavour. Unusual for a German beer and in addition a good Baltic Porter - well done!

Medium beige lasting head. Deep dark red body. Sweet fruity earthy wild berry aroma with roasty caramel and hop notes. Sweet burnt and roasty caramel taste with metallic wooden earthy notes. Dry earthy caramel aftertaste with peppery hop notes. Long lingering peppery aftertaste. Sharpish, fizzy mouthfeel. Fruitiness in the aftertaste. Very nice, but quite dry, which makes it a bit boring. (0.33l bottle at Café Knössel, Heidelberg.)

bottle, Danke MoritzF! Black colour, beige head, which is persistent and creamy. Full-bodied, malty with hints of coffee, bitter chocolate and roasted malts. Pleasantly dry and hoppy, especially in the finish and aftertaste.

Bottle. Ruby, clear beer with a small, beige head. Caramel, slighly burnt notes and quite bready nose. The flavor has a fruityness instead of the burnt malt. Roasted finish and medium body. Not exactly too interesting, but at least it is a non-German style, brewed in Germany. (070705)

Bottled. Dark red, near black, fluffy beige head. Roasty licorice aroma. Dry yet fruity. Light bodied with lots of licorice. Heavily salty with tarry bitter finish. Not at all as cloyingly sweet as many German porters has been. This one remians drinkable and pleasant.

Bottle, 5.8%. Sweet aroma, a little liquorice. Very dark brown colour. Stable light brown head. The flavour starts off with a little sweetness and some liquorice in good balance. Turns roasted and stays that way for a while. Medium carbonation and OK mouthfeel. Nicely balanced beer with enough flavour.

500ml bottle. Deep reddish body with a beige head. Slightly roasted malt aroma. Flavor is roasted malt with a little hint of chocolate. Quite light impression, very refreshing.

Yet again thanks to Degarth for opening this tasty elixir.
Pours deep deep amber with tan head. I love the aroma. It smells like I just walked into a brewery with dewy sweet malts, yum. Doesn’t smell like a Porter though. The taste has a bready grainy maltiness that is just fresh and delicious. By midway hints of roasted malts show up. It isn’t like any Porter I’ve tried so far.

330ml bottle bought in Marennes, France. Mahogany coloured with a decent off-white head. Aroma of toasted malt, caramel and a touch of coffee. Very smooth drinking with more toasted flavours and a decent finish.
