33cl bottle (6,7%) from Intermarché HYPER Le Bugue. Head is big, egg-white, good retention. Colour is deep gold, light hazy. Aroma is grapefruit, pineapple, mango, papaya, orange, bit roasted onion. Taste is medium to full malty base, citrus, green pears, pineapple, bit herbal, bready and caramel touch, nice balanced harmonic long lasting bitterness, high carbonation, classic for the style, fully enjoyed.

'Generic' IPA by one of those hundreds of new microbreweries in France, many of which are still - and probably will be for a long time unless they really excel - largely unknown outside of their own region; thanks to Craftmember for sharing. Snow white, frothy, membrane-lacing, firm and stable head, cloudy peach blonde robe with ochre tinge. Aroma of wormwood, old bread crust, dried thyme, spring blossoms, 'witloof', raw parsnip, dry earth, birch leaves, old dried grapefruit peel, dandelion, clover, nutmeg, grass. Dry-fruity onset, green pear and unripe peach, medium carbonated with somewhat 'fluffy', rounded mouthfeel; cereally core, bread crust, quickly bittered by a rooty, leafy, wormwoody and floral hoppiness, tonic water-like in the end but a bit 'pale' in coloration, fighting against a pronounced bready and somewhat phenolic yeastiness. Ends long bitter (wormwood) and earthy, with ongoing breadiness. Well-bittered, quite powerful and in that sense 'an' IPA of sorts, but due to the breadiness, earthiness and yeastiness, I think it is fair to say that in pure fact, this one falls under that oddly uninentional (in many cases at least) 'Belgian IPA' category. Viewed as such, tasty and solid enough though, free of technical flaws. Serves its purpose, just do not expect a clean and bright Anglo-Saxon style IPA of any subclass.
