We left a glass of beer and a bowl of nuts for Santa Claus. But he never came. Instead, we were surprised by a visit from our Ophiussa friends. Like the tradition tells, they brought wine, after all, that's what the Portuguese spend on. While enjoying the fine wine, we discussed how IPAs and white wines overlap. The wine industry uses specific yeasts for intense fruity profiles and we we’re eager to learn more & explore ourselves. For this beer we paired delicate Australian hops with continental Saaz for a floral profile. The full potential of the hops selection gets unlocked using a yeast known to produce tropical fruit aromatics. When combined with a New England IPA yeast strain it transforms the beer into a fruitbowl with a creamy mouthfeel.

Can. Pours murky yellow with a white head. Nose is floral notes, weed, diesel, it’s got an underlying fruityness going on too, also some berry and grape notes. Taste is weed, diesel, grass and spicy hops, that fruity backbone again. It has a nice bitterness to it, which I personally dont mind at all. Interesting NEIPA, off the beaten path for sure but I dig it.

Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (style 21C). Can 44 cl - Batch 530 (canned on 12/01/2023 - best before 12/09/2023). AROMA: medium-high hop aroma with notes of grapefruit, lime, melon. slight pear-drop esters. medium-low neutral and slightly sweet malt background. APPEARANCE: light orange body and hazy. medium white head, creamy, with good retention. TASTE: initial medium hop flavour with notes similar to the aroma (grapefruit, lime, cantaloup melon), with also an initial medium-low neutral malt background with medium sweetness. medium-high bitterness that quickly masks the sweetness into a semi-dry and bitter finish that persists. unbalanced. MOUTHFEEL: medium body with slight soft texture. medium carbonation. light warmth present. OVERALL: a NEIPA with a nice hop presentation but with excessive bitterness for the style which, if it wasnt for the initial taste sweetness, would resemble a regular IPA.

Fair hazy ipa. On the bitter end. But clean and well made. Typical from the brewery and for the style. Guild box

Thuis uit een blik. Weer een uitstekend bier van Moersleutel. Wazig geel met mooi wit schuim. Hoppige en florale geuren, smaak is van een prima bitterheid.

CD 12/01/2023. Hazy pale yellow, soft white head. Smells sweet, fruity, some gooseberry. Pretty decent body for the ABV, firm yet soft. Taste has a certain green grassy bitterness, and some light general fruityness. White grape, gooseberry. Decent beer.
