Marked batch 005 on the bottle label. Matured in a Glen Moray 1992 cask although this is not detailed on the label.
This edition sees our Imperial Stout aged for several months in specially selected Speyside malt whisky casks. This maturation process results in the whisky flavours and aromas being infused deep into our beer.

(11/3/08) Bottle sample at a tasting in Pizza Port in Carlsbad (thanks wetherel). Dark brown with a bubbly beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, wood, whiskey and alcohol. Sweet roasty flavor with dark chocolate, a bit of caramel, some whiskey notes and earthy hints. Full thick body. Pleasant.

Bottle from Wine Warehouse - Charlottesville, consumed on 10/17/2008. Dark black body with ruby highlights and a medium frothy brown head. Very sweet whiskey aroma with coffee, chocolate and molassas with lots of raisin and fruity hints. Very sweet vanilla, raisin, coffee, whiskey hints with caramel and molassas in the background. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation and a very smooth oak finish and a rather warming finish.

Bottled. Almost opaque black color, small coffee head. Roasted barley and licorice aroma. Roasted flavors with licorice and some vanilla but with less vanilla than in Grain versions. Also a bit sweeter than Grain batch 007.

(Bottle, shared first with sayravai and then with FatPhil, thanks!, at Pikkulintu) Black. Small white head. Roastedness and some whisky in nose. Full bodied palate with little carbonation. Liquorice, some whisky, roastedness and bitterness in taste. Liquorice and light bitterness in aftertaste.

Tried to rate this last night. Really good stuff. Will elaborate on this in near future. Bottle. Black color with a multifinger tan head. Rich chocolate aroma over something whisky. Medium plus body with mild carbonation. There is quite a bit of whisky flavor, with astringent wood and lots of chocolate. Probably also some toasted malt. Mild heat suffuses through the mouth. Finishes reasonably dry.

Bottled (Γlkonsortiet, Aalborg). Very deep amber, close to black colour. Not much head. Aroma is vanilla, leather, caramel and some slight smoked notes. Flavour is vanilla, malts, hops, wood and some slight notes of alcohol.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a small, off-white head and a black body. Aroma of chocolatee vanilla and some maple syrup. Taste is maple, whisky, and chocolatee. Syrupy mouthfeel with light carbonation.

Courtesy of tpd975. Pours deep dark brown with tan head. The aroma starts with some roasted malts and chocolate followed by dark fruity esters, sweet Scotch notes, faint earthiness and a backbone of oak. The taste has pleasing stout beer notes on par with the barrel flavors bringing to light roasty to burnt malts, some dark chocolate, molasses and a sweet thin layer of dark fruity esters. Just after the base beer becomes apparent the Scotch booze and oakiness rise up and take the experience into the finish accompanied by a mild warming sensation. I find that the better balance between barrel notes and base beer achieved here provides a more complex and pleasing flavor and aroma.

Dark beige head over deep dark brown beer. Cocos, dark chocolate, whisky-like alcohol and - cornflakes smell. Warm alcohol taste, sweet, chocolate, fruity and faintly smoked refinement. Berries retronasal, warming up. Extremely spritzy-fizzy MF, with lots of alcohol(warming). Nice beer, but less spectacular and amazing than some of the previously experienced BrewDog entries.
