As Schmucker Obenwälder Märzen, from a bottle bought in Frankfurt am Main. Medium thick, snow white, thinning and opening head, clear warm and pure 'old golden' robe. Aroma of soggy crackers, bread crust, some petrichor, young mugwort leaf, sweaty grains, hints of rusty iron, acacia honey and wet dog. Malt sweetish onset, rounded with minerally and somewhat prickly carbonation, vague iron accents hovering around an ongoing malt sweetishness with cracker- and sandwich-like character, even a tad biscuity at a certain point; mild floral and grassy hops in the finish, gently bittering but leaving enough room for the maltiness to develop further from light biscuitiness to an equally subtle toastiness, yet remaining primarily sweet with only the mildest of bitter flavours. Somewhat too metallic perhaps, but otherwise an 'ur-German' textbook example of the Märzen style, nothing more, nothing less.

Gold with a thin, foamy head. Aroma of buttered bread, herbs, metal. Taste is bitter and a touch metallic over a malty sweetness. Medium-bodied, moderate carbonation, good backbone. Has its flaws, but drinkable.

500ml bottle [as Odenwälder Märzen, 5.8% abv]. Opalescent, orange, golden colour with small to average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Sweet-ish, starchy, caramel malty aroma, hints of overripe pear. Taste is sweet-ish, minimally starchy, caramel malty, minimally fruity, hints of overripe pear, a minimally papery touch. Dissolved sugar enriched, watery texture, indifferent palate, medium to fine, mildly prickly carbonation. Rather simple and monotonous - so-so; bonus point for nostalgia.

Golden color, slightly soapy aroma with only hints of hops and mango. Firm bitter, but also malty flavor. Dryish for a märzen. Medium bodied at least. A firm, even a touch alcoholic beer.

0,5 l bottle. THX to kappldav123! More clear golden than copper in the glass. One finger white head. Low malty on the nose. Taste starts malty with grain, some sweetness. Getting mor dry in the middle part. Sweetness in the background. Hop in the second row but present. Okay.

Bottle from Maruhn. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, light fruity and light hoppy. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Sweet finish. 121214

The beer starts smooth, a stronger bitterness comes in fast, grainy-malty. The mainpart is strange chemically bitter with a grainy-malty body. In the aftertaste malty-grainy. Moderate bitter.
