Starker Geruch von Haselnüssen. Cremiger, nussig-herber Beginn. Eher geringe Süße, viel Alkohol, trockene Noten von Schokolade. Leichte röstig, nussig bleibend, Kaffee im Hintergrund. Würzig malzig, mittellanger Abgang. Nett, bleibt aber hinter seinen Möglichkeiten. 8/12/9/8/10/8

Can picked up from Bierkiste, München and consumed at home Thursday 7th September 2023, after dropping Mum and Keith off back at the airport today. We're sat inside listening to the Mercury Music Prize (Ezra Collective won!) Loz is asleep on the sofa. This pours pitch black with a tan head, roasty and malty vibes the maltiness providing a bitterness throughout. However again for the second time this week I am struggling with a brewery who seems intent on completely overdoing it with the nuttiness, hazelnut tastes artificial and is so OTT I cannot finish it. On the plus side it's not cloyingly sweet, it's roasty, good bitterness and could have been a good impy stout if the hazelnut had been dialled down. Maybe after 4 and a half years of living here in Germany and drinking more lager and wheat beers I am becoming less and less tolerant of these big bombastic impy stouts, unless of course they have been done very well (this hasn't), so there you have it, I could only drink half of this.
