One of Totem’s latest so far – hopefully not the last as they too, like many small breweries in Europese these days, are allegedly considering to cease brewing – a mighty triple IPA of sorts, at no less than 15,5% ABV. Can at Brugs Beertje, shared with Craftmember. Eggwhite, medium thick, moussey, lacing and opening head, clear warm peach-hued golden robe, hazy and warmer pale orange with sediment. Extremely dank nose, diesel, armpit sweat, lots of lychee and lychee liqueur, (over)ripe mango, Poire William – and ripe Doyenné pear, peaches in brandy, marsala, granadilla, honeydew, olive oil, white port or even pineau de Charentes. Very ‘candied’, sugary onset, candied peach, orange and lychee, honeyish and rather sticky, with soft carbonation; evidently very full, syrupy body, marmalade, lychee and mango continuing over a smooth biscuity ‘soil’, followed by a very strong (300 IBU, mind you), essentially citrusy and spicy hop bitterness – initially almost drowning in all that sweetness, but in the end pushing through, reinforced by pineau- and brandy-like alcohol, which unsurprisingly becomes very boozy, yet manages to do so without scorching all the flavours away. Wow, this is one impressive beer for sure – extremely powerful, wildly rocking the palate from very sweet to very bitter and back, with a booziness that becomes a bit difficult to handle if drunk too quickly… Muscle-flexing from start to finish, and even if these hyperstrong beers (over 12-13% ABV) are not my personal favourite, I must admit that this blast of a beer does exactly what it promises, and that is kicking you right in the face with its sheer power and boldness, yet with enough feeling for balance and colour.

A golden beer, a head is small and blond. Aroma has caramel, fruitness, hop aromas, alcohol. Taste has caramel maltyness, fruitness, orange, quite sweet, also bitterness, alcohol. Full bodied. A very big beer, somehow still drinkable.

Can from Beers@Moviefun. Clear golden, thinning, white head. Aroma of ripe pineapple, plum, 'Baba à l'orange', honey, mead, powdered sugar, sunflower oil, grapefruit juice, liqueur, diesel. Taste has very sweet canned pineapple, candied plum & ripe melon over a thick malty base of white sugar, honey and cake, somewhat spicy, phenolic. Floral hoppy finish offers a slightly harsh yet short grapefruity bitterness, lemony accent somewhere, overtaken again by lingering candied fruit, honey and boozy fruit liqueur-like alcohol. Medium to full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Intense brew to say the least; let's call it an experiment?

Happeline ja veider, atsetoon ja asjad. Tundub, et siin on nii mõnigi pruulimisviga... samas on ka hullemat saadud.

Almost clear golden colour, white foam. Very sweet and boozy, almost syrupy with citrussy and hints of grapefruit. Strong, sweet, boozy but also hoppy.

Very good white head over coldhazed golden beer. Rather neutral nose (for such a strong beer!). There is lupulin obviously; vegetable frying oil, bit grapefruitpeel. Sweet, white grapejuice with a sugaroverload - probably natural, but all the same... Again frying oil and sugared pickles; further a good dose of lupulin, giving an undistinct bitter flavour. Viscous, almost cloying; yet good carbonation. Overdose - but not from the hops. Imagine white grapejuice from the bottle with a lupulin injection. I blame the dextrin malt.

0.33 l can from 'Etre Gourmet', best before December 2028. Slightly hazy, golden with a thin, quickly collapsing, white head. Sweetish, intensely fruity-resiny, slightly boozy aroma of candied orange, pine, some honey and a touch of grapefruit. Very sweet, fairly fruity-resiny, slightly and not overly boozy taste of honey, pine, grapefruit, candied orange, sultanas and lemon, followed by a medium long, gently bitter finish. Just above medium-bodied, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Massive beer, somewhere between an American Blond Barley Wine and a Quintuple IPA. Very intense, super hoppy (300 IBU!), surprisingly light-bodied for such a high abv and not as boozy as expected. Very well done!
