Road Dog was the first label Ralph Steadman designed which later inspired Hunter S. Thompson’s "Road Dog" essay. We then spent four years fighting for the right to display their now famous quote "Good Beer No Shit." To make a long story short, we won. Let us hoist a pint to free speech, NO CENSORSHIP, the genius of Ralph Steadman, and the Gonzo Spirit of Hunter S. Thompson!

12th August 2008. Very light malty porter with a bit of a light fruity tang. Other than that it’s a pretty straight beer. Quite light compared to many other porters.

Colabrown beer with medium beige head. Aroma is roasted, some syrup-like sweetness and some chalk and liquirice. Flavour is also roasted, dry and quite simple. Easy and balanced to drink with nice carbonation. Good, roasted beer, but still I wanted something more, because Road Dog is too balanced and there are nothing thrilling: thus not bad beer.

355ml Bottle - Dark brown, with some red tinges. Malty aroma with hints of cola, caramel and some slightly fruity hints. Malty and fruity taste with raisins and some hints of roasted coffee. Slightly thin and lacking body. A bit of a disappointment.

Pours deep mahogany into a Shaker. Tan head quickly recedes to nothing. Sweet, smokey chocolate aromas. Dry and astringent upfront turning malty sweet and back to a dry, lasting chocolate syrup finish.

(35.5cl bottle) Clear, reddish brown colour with a light-beige, mid-sized foamy head. A bit dusty, slightly sweet and roasty malty aroma with a tinge of acidity, caramel and shy herbal hoppy notes. Moderately sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a light carbonation. Delicately roasted malty taste with light notes of caramel, milk chocolate and a shy grainy touch. Sweet and faint bitter, mildly roasted finish. Not the archetype of a Porter, furthermore a bit slim for its abv (16.II.09).

Bottle thanks to swalden28. Pours with a clear dark brown body and no real head. Aroma of coffee, leather, peat and licorice. Taste is dirt and coffee grounds and a decently bitter finish. Light bubbles.

Road Dog is a porter which has got the taste of berries and fruitlike ingredients. Ruby-dark content under a beige, filmy layer. Aroma of dark berries and malt. Flavoured with blackcurrant supported by underlying roasted grain. Mild dark, bitter fruits to the finish. Soft in the mouth. Appreciated, however, rather thin for a porter. 355ml bottle from a SuperBest store in Valby, Denmark, bb.28.01.09 [at home in Tromsø, 09.01.2009].
