(Bottle, Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival, 8 Oct 2022) Black colour with brief head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of sweet coffee, dark chocolate and vanilla. Malty, roasted taste with dark chocolate, strong black coffee, vanilla, liquorice, oak wood and a sweetish finish with a balanced cacao bitterness. Full body, sweet. Thick and oily mouthfeel. Rich and powerful, really tasty. Very nice.

Sample (thanks fonefan!). Black colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is liquorice, some toffee, mild alcohol and some vanilla with a wee bit wood. Flavour is liquorice, vanilla and some alcohol with ripe fruity tones. A bit strange soy saucy tones too in the flavour.

--Sample, thanks fonefan! -- Pitch black, dark beige head. Peppery nose with caramel, chocolate, vanilla and coffee. Sweet with full to massive body and rounded mouthfeel. Heavy on caramel. Burnt toast and licorice. Coffee and reasonably balanced amounts of vanilla. Intense roasted coffee with dark berries linger in a warming, quite bitter finish.

bottle from beerbay. this bottle says 12.8% alc. Brewed in brazil, sold from beer shop in spain, rated in denmark. this beer has been around. pitch dark, brown head. long time since i had just this aroma. it's roasted malts, coffee, faint wood, strong boozy note or just strong alc. then a near phenolic but not just quite sensation that might also be described as cellary (like stone walls in a cellar). flavor is roasted malts, coffee, lots of coffee in fact, and good coffee at that, hard roasted malts. although it is quite strong it is not very sweet, the coffee and perhaps some hops, are doing great at keeping it balanced and sort of dryish. lots of malty notes though. flavor is quite clean and straight, not much burnt wood or super hard roasted malts, smoked malts or the like. just plain impy stoutness. doesn't taste like it was in a barrel, but i could suspect perhaps some wood chops were used, there is a subtle woody note to the complexity. pretty nice beer. isn't it pretty hot in sao paulo most of the time. Who other than me could think of sitting in the sun and craving an imperial stout? it happens.. although I think hot sun is ipa weather... When I rate this, it is at 4.14. I think that is too high. The phenolic note is there, both aroma and flavor. It does stack up quite well with other beers in the 4.0 to 4.2 range though, so perhaps 4.14 is not too far from the mark.

Tap at Borefts 2018, from historic tasting notes. Pours opaque dark brown towards black with a small pale tan head. Aroma: roasted malts, huge coffee, chocolate. Taste: moderate to heavy sweet & moderate bitter, coffee dominates, dark chocolate, light coffee liqueur, some vanilla. Smooth. Medium to full body with fine carbonation.

Borefts X. I'm ten for ten! Day 2. Keg. Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, slightly viscous, modest fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts. Coffee is the dominant flavour but it's a mellow coffee. A little coffee liqueur. Ths vanilla is a nice applied touch and stops things from getting earthy and bitter. Smooth finish. Not usually are great lover of one dimensional coffee beers but this one is smooth and deftly brewed.

Sampled at Borefts 2018, Day 1. Opaque black color, average sized dark brown head. Aroma is malts, dark malts, dark chocolate, coffee and light vanilla. Taste malts, vanilla coffee. Intense. Thick oily syrupy. Awesome, probably the best of the festival. 9-5-9-4-18. -- [Edit: this was indeed the best of the festival for me, had many more full glasses of this. Absolutely delicious!]
