The Brown Ale is a traditional beer related to the first beers ever brewed commercially. Brewed with an interesting blend of malts, including pale two-row Harrington, Metcalfe, and Maris Otter malt, Caramel, Munich, and roasted Carafa malts, the Brown Ale shines with a deep mahogany luster. The malt flavor is complex and deep as well, with notes of biscuit, nut, and caramel. With moderate hop bitterness, a deep malt body, and a fruity ale fermentation character, the Samuel Adams Brown Ale satisfies the soul and doesn’t overwhelm the tongue.

Clear amber-brown with a tall beige head that laces the glass as it goes down. Caramelly-malt aroma and a flavor with caramel malts with hints of nuttiness and a tiny hint of hops in the aftertaste.

Dark brown, mahogany with light graham cracker and pumpernickel crust tints. Clear, filtered, extremely overcarbonated, with a light beige head that immediately runs to the edges, no lacing.
Smells of old, stale, brown bread, huge amounts of carbonic acid, some lightly dry veggies, and a heavily metallic note. The flavor is dry, bready, papery, not sweet. Huge, gaping, vacuous holes in the flavor allow a large amount of water and noxious fizzy carbonation. Nutty, fleeting caramel, almost no hops. Good lord.

Pours dark reddish brown with a medium light tan head and decent lacing. The aroma is pretty nice, with toasted malt and nuts primarily. Medium-bodied and relatively smooth with a good malt foundation, with some nuts and hops as well. The finish is thin but has a nice roasty malt flavor while it lasts. If the finish were more robust this would be a really great session beer, as it stands it’s still above average.

Pour is a dark brown with a nice sized white head. Aroma is ok with lots of caramel aroma to go around. Flavor is the weak part of this brew. In fact its almost to weak to really get a good mouthfull of whats going on. Some malts are detected but nothing stands out. Very so-so.
