Pouring a hazy, orange juice-colored golden yellow, Trailside is a fine-tuned take on the classic citrus-meets-tropical Trillium profile. Keeping an eye toward new possibilities with Strata, while retaining the core elements of what works best in Citra, the aroma is a stunning display of smile-inducing hop saturation. Fresh-peeled clementine, tangelo, and candied Meyer lemon notes are complemented by overripe pineapple, mango nectar, and fuzzy peach. Its juice-forward, no doubt; but an underlying ruby red grapefruit bitterness keeps us reaching back for more. Characteristically soft and palate-coating, we hope you enjoy Trailside while exploring the beauty of Blue Hills and beyond.

Draught at Fenway, 6/24/21.
Moderately-to-heavily hazy, pale brassy-gold with a small, but fairly well-retained white head.
Strata gets in there with its weird melon-pineapple-tangerine thing and yet the citra still provides plentiful juiciness. Yet somehow there's a fair bit of pine-like character on the finish, as well. Great house yeast character with plentiful mineral-like character, no bubblegum and no alcohol or flaw.
Very, very dry, I daresay too much so? Or maybe it's just more bitter than I prefer an NEIPA to be. Either way, I really feel the light resin here and the bitterness isn't really soaked up by the sparse, cracker-like maltiness. No real honey-like character to balance as I'd prefer. But it's a fine beer and appeals to those looking for a bit more than a glass of juice or tropical fruit. Still has a soft, malty texture and engaging carbonation with no alcohol or flaw.
