Deep golden color. Found on the shelves of the Wijn en Bierboetiek next to Erotikbier from the same brewery. Popes and erotik do go together in some ways... Malty flavor with some distant hops. Peach, hazelnuts. Low on aroma. The firm body of this beer almost hides the alcohol. Hopbitter aftertaste. This beer is not an exponent of the rich Roman Catholic life, I fear.

Flasche (50 cl) aus Keils Getränkemarkt, Bayreuth. - Tief goldgelb, klar. - In der Nase breite aber stumpfe Malzsüße, dumpfe Orangenherbe und schwache fuselige und käsige Noten. - Antrunk breit karamelmalzig mit dicker, sirupartiger Süße, dazu derbe Orangenschalenherbe. Mild rezent, sehr vollmundig, deutlich spritig. Im Abgang plumpe Hopfenherbe mit Gras und Orangenschale. Derb bitterer, leicht käsiger Nachtrunk. - Eher simpler, derber Bock aber durchaus trinkbar. “Ein Bier besonderer Güte“ ist das aber nicht.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein goldgelbes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch intensiv malzig, würzig, getreidig. Geschmack sehr malzig, leicht fruchtig süß, getreidig.

Aroma is sweetish with some honey, grainy malt and hints of hay. Flavour is sweet with honey, alcohol, some grainy malt and hints of butter. Rather typical heller bock.

Bottle @ Odense Tasting, May 2012. Pours clear golden with a small white head and lacings. Nose is sweet of grain and bread. Quite doughy. Flavor is grain and warm and cloying alcohol. Medium bodied. Re-rate May 2017. Doughy and Grassy. Bready malty. Full bodied. Bitter finish. No alcohol warmth this time and better and fresher hops, perhaps. Nice . 2,9-3,7.

Bockbier. Stinknormales Bockbier. Vielleicht am Anfang etwas würziger und unstimmiger als Artgenossen, ansonsten durchschnittlich wie nur irgend möglich. Test vom 28.10.2005, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,7,7,8,8,8 - 8,10
