50 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a little light orange/yellow head. Coriander and hops spiced aroma. Flavour is estery, mild caramel malt, light spiced and with a little fruity, towards bitter, hops flavour. Mixed finish of belgian yeast and american hops.

Hazy dark orange colour with slight beige fluffy head.Aroma of wheat,coriander and banana,feels spicey and well done.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub, Stavanger. 2008 vintage (new recipe, new style, new label). Bottle conditioned, ABV is 7.5%. Cloudy brown colour, huge off-white head. Nice "Belgian" aroma, spices (incl. coriander), yeast and woodwork. The flavour is also spicy / peppery and woody, relatively dry with just a slight fruitiness. Good beer.

(50 cl bottle at Haket, Göteborg) [i]With clear Easter Island statues on the label. [/i]Shady brown to copper color, tan creamy head. Spicy coriander, citrus scent, with lots of estery banana as well, after a while the banana is very clear. Almost like a Belgian Wit mixed with some Geman Hefe. Peppry aftertaste. Spritzy moutfheel, low bitterness.

Medium light beige head. Hazy amber body. Spicy banana licorice aroma with a light toffee caramel edge. Dry catty licorice and banana taste with herbal notes. Sharpish mouthfeel. Dry herbal licorice afteraste. (0.5l bottle from an anonymous benefactor. Want to rerate this when drinking a whole bottle.)

I believe this is one of those beers that might suffer form the tickermania. What I mean is that most people need to have more then a few sips from these ale before its entire aroma and flavors reveals itself for the drinker. But the reward is a beautiful and complex ale for the drinker. I had a few pints of this ale at the local pub at two different occasions and was really enjoying this. New flavors and details where discovered all the way to the bottom of my glass like a revelation and the picture become complete. Then I decided to do my rating based on the experience at a beer tasting evening together with some dedicated beer buddies. We started as usually with a few lagers and then the time was come for my 10 cl sample. The experience where totally different, this was still a fine and well made ale in the Belgium style. But many of the nuances where missing. I believe the experienced raters already are aware of these factors and almost no one are reading this words anyway, but I just had to write it down somewhere.

The body is orange/amber with a medium creamy off/white head. The aroma is complex, fruity and spicy with a kind of sweetness and yeast typical Belgium inspired. Flavor is relatively sweet with a well-balanced bitterness and floral/spicy fruitiness. This exiting beer separates itself from the typical Nøgne Ø signature flavor using Munich and wheat malt with Liberty hops. Long and fruity finish, very nice and addictive.
