75 cL bottle, vintage 2004 at Jacobson from the Carlsberg cellar. Pours deep brown to black with a dense chocolate brown head, large sediments floating around - tasty though :) Aroma is thick chocolate with a mild roasted note - has a whiff of a wineous tone too. Flavour is smooth chocolate - the ageing suites this brew well. Has a soft smooth chocolate and malty finish with a mild wineous tone. Nice.

Bottle. Dark brown body with a reddish tint, looks clear, with a nice, beige head. Coffee aroma in the start, some chocolate and burnt malt, and dried fruit. Far from bad, but I expected a bit more. Burnt flavor with coffee-beans, quite sweet as well, and with some dried fruits. Oily, quite full mouthfeel, with a warming feeling towards to end. There’s flavors of fruits and coffee bitterness in the finish. A quite nice beer, even though I expected a fuller, heavier beer, but I guess it would be better with some food than on its own. Bottle (75cl): Deep amber coloured, creamy firm yellowish lacing head; fruity, dark malty and distinctive chocolatey aromas; robust bitter-sweet flavour, medium to full bodied, smooth MF; chocolate and cacao in the sweetish-fruity finish. A good one.......

Bottle, 6.8%. Bittersweet aroma, some dark bread. Very dark brown colour. OK stable light brown head. The flavour is quite sweet, getting slightly salty. Starts off with some liquorice, then gets more chocolaty in the aftertaste. Gets a bit sour after a while. Not as good as I remembered. 6 3 6 3 13

Bottle, 6.8%. 11 years past BB date. Oxidised aroma. Almost black colour, clear red shine. Small stable light brown head. The flavour is vinous and oxidised. Drinkable for its age, but to me it tastes more or less like any 11-year-old beer. 5 3 5 3 9

Black with bubbly browny/white head. roasted coffee notes, Some bitter chocolate. The carbonation is medium. The texture is not as creamy as it looks. The finish is medium - moka bitterness and not long lasting! Just OK!

Sample from a bottle at a beer tasting event on The Rover in Gothenburg, January 14, 2006.Very nice dark color. Clear chocolate in scent and taste. A bit of coffee in the flavor as well. Not the best of the Semper Ardens series, but far from the more commercial Carlsberg products.7/4/6/3/12=3.2

(Bottle 70 cl) Version 1: Bottle #2737. This is the original 2001 vintage of this beer at 6,5% ABV.
Pitch black, opaque beer with a creamy, brownish head. Starts creamy, greasy almost cream-like. Some sweetness quickly relieved by a dry, coffeeish bitterness. Very sophisticated brew with 4 different malts, cocoa, chocolate and English licorice. In many ways a great beer. 240901 (Bottle 70) Version 2 - vintage 2003. More chocolate, less licorice. 7/4/7/3/14=3,5 130603
