ons zwaarste speciaal bier, met een krachtige volle smaak en een romige afdronk; een donker en smaakvol bier om extra lang van te genieten

Brewery tap, small tasting glass. A most pleasant mix of hops, malt and alcohol in the aroma, like in good British barley wines. Thick mouthfeel. Malty sweet, luckily not too sweet, the present but not overpowering alcohol helps. Fruity tones add to the excellent balance of this beer.

Sampled from tap at the brewpub at 12.5% abv. Clear, dark brown with a tan head. Sweetish, slightly yeasty-spicy aroma of caramel, brown sugar, raisins, licorice and blackcurrant. Sweet, slightly yeasty-spicy taste of caramel, brown sugar, some raisins, licorice and some blackcurrant, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter, yeasty-spicy finish. Medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Quite nice, but more a BSA than a Barleywine, reminds me a lot of coke as well.
