The Meerts Tilquin series was made by fermenting fruit that had already been used once. Pinot Noir grapes were fermented for a period of 4 months in a blend of 80% 1 year old Meerts and 20% of a blend of different 2 year old lambics. Meerts (or March Beer) is a low strength lambic, which was originally produced with the weaker wort obtained from the rinsing of the grains. Unfiltered and unpasteurized, they are refermented in the bottle.

Poured from 375mL bottle (bb 09/06/2027). Clear yellow gold with small white head. Very light acidity, very feint grape skins, minimal carbonation. Okay, I usually prefer the red grape Meerts' over white grape, but this one is a bit muted. Preferred the 2020-2021 version, could be that I aged it a little?

8/IV/24 - 37.5cl bottle from the brewery, shared @ Barjac (FR), BB: 9/VI/27, 20-21 version (2024-219) - Tasted side by side with 20-21 version, preferred the 20-21.
Clear light orange to gold blond beer, no head. Aroma: lots of brett up front, wood notes, funky, wild yeasty, slightly dirty touch. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: good bitterness, very dry, tannins, more bitterness, fruity notes, a bit earthy, good acidity, a bit lemony. Aftertaste: a bit spicy, minerals, a little sweet, herbal, funky, good bitterness, some tannins, more lemony, zesty, dry finish. Not sure if I would be able to guess the grapes if it were a blind tasting.

Bottle. Quite similar to the one from last year, though this year’s seems to be fuller and sweeter, still mostly funk and light lambic with soft fruit and tannins. Great.
