What happens when you take the Holy Grail for hopheads and age it in Utopias barrels? Magic.
In our latest iteration of 120 Minute IPA, we’ve enlisted the mystique that is Samuel Adams Utopias barrels to create an experience that’s both familiar and new with every sip you take.
Continuously hopped with a copious amount of high-alpha American hops throughout the boil and then dry-hopped with even more hops for an unfiltered and abundantly hoppy brew, 120 Minute was then aged in freshly emptied Utopias barrels. The resulting deep copper-colored beer is bursting with sweet, almost candy-like aromas of citrus and pine, complemented by hoppy, resiny flavors and a lingering bitterness.

Bottle at SHIG place tasting, picked up from Earlybird Newport News, 16/04/23. Almost clear golden amber with an off white cap that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is bitter orange, grass, pine needle, caramel, herb, booze. Taste comprises booze, sticky orange, grapefruit, caramel, stewed fruits, big barrel tones. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a big spike of alcohol. Solid ... sips easy for the 17%, mellow barrel and you can just about pass it off as a DIPA!

Bottle shared thanks to Cloin: Poured a caramel orange with a bubble head. Aroma is very boozy, sticks to the nose, vanilla, light hops. Taste is bitter hops (how is there still some around), immediately subsides into boozy, vanilla, toffee, alcohol, caramel. Lingers around the palate warming.

Bottle shared at shigs place in Newport news Virginia. Many thanks to Colin for this one. A clear amber orange coloured pour halo of beige head. Aroma is chewy. Brown sugars, green apple, cake, grass, hot alcohol. Flavour is composed of semi sweet boozy sticky fruit, woody, hot bitter alcohol, bite, woody caramel. Super harsh. Palate is medium sweet, chewy malts, moderate boozy hot alcohol finish.
