Almost two years ago, we were able to procure some of the rarest Cognac barrels from France. These casks held Cognac from the Hennessy distillery for TWENTY SEVEN YEARS and went on to become their XXO Hors d'Age special release. We filled them with one of our high gravity Imperial Stouts designed for extended aging and let it rest until they were ready. After tasting heavy notes of chocolate and oak with undertones of dark fruit and smoke, we knew this had the intensity and complexity to be one of our anniversary beers.

Tap @MBCC2023, Blue Session. Black, oily, tan head. Barrel and bourbon aroma, heavy dark malty. Syrupy, dark malty and boozy flavour. Well balanced, sweet and bitter with nice booy buzz.

Bottle pour at MBCC 2023, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma brings out intense cognac barrels and a moderate roasted malt base. Flavour is full of intense cognac barrels, followed by dark dried fruits and some roast. So much cognac and sweet red fruits on the finish. Borderline brutal but well-made.

Sample at MBCC2023, Copenhagen. Colour is very dark brown with very small brownish head. Aromas and flavours: Chocolate, cognag, coffee... nice!
