A rich wheatwine aged in tawny, ruby and white port wine barrels. Created in collaboration with Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan.
Taste: Malty and rich, with the toasted wheat flavours providing a nice foundation for the vinous barrel character. Suggestions of floral hops, bananas, warming spices and honey emerge as the beer warms.
Appearance: Bright deep red with an off-white head.
Nose: An intricate, sweet aroma with notes of fortified wine, vanilla and brûléed sugar, as well as hints of banana bread and dried apricots.
Malts: Wheat malt, Pilsner zero, Caramel pale

On tap @MBCC. Pours a mahogany color with moderate head. Aromas of raisins, oak, port, and toasted malts. Flavors of sharp oak, port, trail mix, mineral water and toasted malts. A bit boozy.

Bottle. A lightly hazy copper colored beer with a small off-white head. The aroma has a good vinous touch, some oak and wine, with caramel, some fruityness, mostly dried fruits but also some blue grapes and a touch of alcohol. It's full-bodied, lightly warming and semi-sweet, with a decent bitterness. The flavor goes in the same direction as the aroma, with a good malty, sweet backdrop. Pine cones, oak, vanilla hints, wine and some dark dried fruits. Long malty and vinous finish. Nice indeed, with lots of Weihenstephan character. 240509

330ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Not easy to open! Next-to-clear dark red-brownish body. Disappearing pearl white head. Scattered lacing. Rich aromas of dried fruits, earthy malts, and oak. Nice intensity to the taste character with dried fruits, bread, caramel, and oak. Lingering, warming finish, mid-sweet. Great slow sipper on a Sunday afternoon. (Tromsø, 14.04.2024)
