Had it on december 5, didn’t know if it was an existing Du Bocq beer with a private label or not. Dark brown color, firm and lasting frothy head. Flavor has coffee, roasted malt. Bittersweet with caramel, a hint of cinnamon and bitter almonds. Indifferent aroma, but the flavor is great. Probably needs cellaring until the next Sinterklaas.

Prickelnd würziger und herber Antrunk mit leichter Bitterkeit. Etwas würziger werdend, wenig malzig, die Herbe ist in milder Form vorherrschend. Im Abgang intensiver, was ein warmes Mundgefühl hinterlässt. /9/8/8/fl/9

Bottle, at LCRBM 2008, ’s Hertogenbosch, Netherlands
Hazy amber, brown body. Off-white head. Medicinal aroma of fruit, melon, banana, wine, grapes, ... Has a lot of subaromas, but it is not convincing as the balance is not fully ok. Moderately sweet, lightly bitter flavour. Again not convincing. Quite malty flavour, but with some strange fruity hint. Also bit odd beer for a dark beer.

Medium yellow head, receding over darker cola-coloured beer. Very madeirized nose, portwine, higher alcohols, sweet malts, restsugars and raisins. Sweet, oxydized, madeirized (sample not old, AFAIK) again typically portwine, raisins, caramelized apples. Well-bodied, very slick, alcoholwarming. This is really good! I wonder if the oxidation is voluntarily – I suspect it is.
