Originally South African brand of flavoured lagers, this one with lemon juice but I read that there is an apple version too; the brand was launched by SAB Miller in 2013, less than three years before the company, already huge at the time, was 'swallowed' by even bigger AB InBev, which is now doing marketing tests with it in Belgium, it seems. Strangely, my sample was labelled 5.9% ABV rather than the (probably original) 4.5% ABV one sees mentioned everywhere, so it is probably a stronger version for a new audience AB InBev is trying to tap into - we will see how this goes here but for now, I will park my rating here provisionally. Bottle from the Delhaize supermarket at the Watersportbaan in Ghent. Thick and dense, fizzing, snow white head dissolving quickly over a crystal clear, pure pale yellow golden robe with large visible bubbles. Aroma of cheap industrial lemonade, lemon-scented soap, breakfast cereals soaked in water instead of milk, molten granulated sugar and frankly not much else. Industrial flavour: white-sugary sweet in the onset, simplistic and non-fruity, medium carbonated and utterly lemonade-like in general; thin, slick, even watery mouthfeel where this sugary, lemon-scented 'diluted Fanta Lemon' effect continues, leading to a finish which is no finish but a confirmation of this sugary lemonade effect, only even simpler, thinner and also soapier. Monotonous 'beery' soda pop of sorts - thin, bland, sugary and boring to death. 'Beer' in terms of flavour and character is rarely further away in something still looking entirely like it. I hope AB InBev's still tentative attempt at getting this on the Belgian market will fail miserably so that I will never be confronted with the apple version of this - or any other version for that matter.

Thanks fonefan! Golden colour not much head. Aroma is lemon, some grains and mild strange wooden tones. Flavour is lemon, some slight grapes and a bit freshly cut wood.

Sample, thanks fonefan! Hazy golden, coarse, lively head. Aroma of lemon squash from concentrate. Artificially sweet with light body and clean mouthfeel. Some syrup, lots of perfumy YES lemon. No bitterness. Artificial AF.
